MexicoThis is also a thing about the site changing and adding funcionalities. I don't know how far back was the leaderboard structured as it is, but the site added a lot of category specific features relatively recently. The ability to split categories into sub-categories, or to have misc. categories hidden out of the main leaderboard are both amazing organization features that could benefit this leaderboard, but cannot be used as intended because the maps and categories are swapped.
If this was done a while ago, it was really not a bad decision, as back then it really only changed the axis in which it was shown, but with time resulted in being unable to properly use the features of the site.
I will await confirmation from the moderators in regards to whether the leaderboard will be changed or not. But if my opinion is to have any weight, I would prefer having it changed.
I was just passsing by and I have to add that precisely because of this kind of issues is that the site is made as it is. Levels should be levels and categories should be categories. If the change is to be made, I would be willing to help restructure the boards and taking part in taking note of, and adding back the important runs (WRs) after it all is reset.

We called it by the obvious name of "item preserve". Not a lot of maps really work with this because you have to somehow make it through whatever triggers the /clear while in the inventory and if it comes with a teleport it's just not viable most of the time.
I am down for adding to the leaderboard any level category that is actively run and is not boring. If y'all get on doing runs of this, I'll put up the board. Just remember that if you just do a run and then never touch the category again, it wil eventually get deleted because of it being an inactive category.
@Ozotuh Yeah, what happened is that the game had 2 categories, and one had become invalid so he intended to delete it, but accidentally deleted the other. It's a really silly as he himself has noted (http://www.speedrun.com/mcm_hsp/thread/6d6vf)

So, a mod in a game I'm supermod at (http://www.speedrun.com/mcm_hsp) just messed up and deleted about half of the runs on accident (furthermore, it was because the other half was now invalid due to an update, so, technically, he deleted ALL the runs). Is there any possibility of getting that undone? I understand that, depending on how the site works internally, that may be impossible, but it would be great if it was possible.
It feels too tedious, unexctiting and not something unique or meaningful sorry. And comparing it to the Full Iron Armor & 15 Levels doesn't help since that category is being considered for removal.

the console edition leaderboard is some joke someone made that I have no control over. We do not recognize them as separete and rate them next to the PC versions.
As for IGT it's ok if you time it afterwards. It's not hard for me to verify that the time is correct.
I apologize for late response. For the custom map, they are traditionally run in the version they were released for, although if the map or official statements do not specify and the map has no redstone, and no version specific glitches introduced before or after the version the map was made for, then it's ok. So, as long as you don't want to use glitches not present in 1.4 and there isn't redstone that breaks with changing versions, then it should be ok.
Using enderpearls like that does count as a glitch because any way of clipping inside/through a block are a glitch. Also, for custom maps (and the top of the nether or bottom of the void in vanilla) getting out of bounds is a glitch.
Because I'm now knowledgable enough about dragon escape to do so and I don't want to screw up.
I actually came over here when I saw there were quite a few 4+ day old runs left to be verified. I would consider having a temporary mod while Maxi is gone, but I don't want to pick at random and for me to be comfortable with it it would have to be someone chosen by Maxi. So if anyone has a way to get a hold of him, tell him to hit me up if he needs an extra moderator to be added for the remainder of his absence.
Alright. This is how I've decided to attempt to fix stuff. Thunder and Maxi have shown me proof of the poor moderation habits of Paris and co. and I'm not only changing the moderator lineup, but I am also instating rules and standards that the moderators and users are to be held up to.
The moderation processes will be FULLY public and transparent. I'm expecting the moderators to make another sticky post stating eactly what the verification process for a run is and how it works, including details such as timing, framerates, and other stuff so that people know what is to be checked and have no surprises. Said post will also include the penalizations for rule breaking/cheating.
If they decide a player is deserving of a penalization, then the transparency will come into play, making a post for said player's case, stating the details such as which part of the moderation process was not passed and why, presenting the proof for their claim. It is then that the accused player is penalized accordingly until they are able to counter the proof presented and disprove the claims made against them. All of this is to happen publicly on the forum thread.
These processes are supposed to be as objective and public as possible to prevent disputes born out of doubt on the fairness of the issue.
Hopefully this will sort out most of the issues. As for the removed moderators who may feel they do not deserve to lose their spot, contact Thunder and/or Maxi, I trust them to choose who should be added as a moderator, which is now not as easy of a job given th standards that are to be followed.
I have already taken notice of this. If the moderators take this down they will be reprimanded. If the drama does not stop soon I will replace moderators, since given what I have seen, I conclude it is their fault the drama even started in first place.
That is censorship and I will NOT condone it. If you can prove to me that it is the case I will consider penalizing or removing the current moderators due to censorship and manipulation. Also please contact me on twitter if anything happens that could require immediate attention, since that gives me a notification on my phone so I can act as soon as possible.
Alright, good thing I've been keeping an eye in here just in case. One unwritten rule I've handled in the vanilla minecraft community (and anything else I moderate) is NO DRAMA. That is, nothing that has room to fuel heated discussion that could cause splits in the community.
So, if someone is going to be banned, it must be with conclusive evidence publicly posted, no room to discuss. Remember, the burden of proof falls on the one making the accusation, not the one being accused, they only should have to present proof if it is to counter proof already presented by the accusing party.
In conclusion, if someone is to be formally banned, a thread should be opened by a moderator presenting the proof and reasoning for the ban. Then if the one accused cannot counter the proof, they are to be banned. This all should be done in public and with no sugarcoating. Whichever happens is purely objective, and with no room to discuss.
Please take this into consideration. Drama and personal disputes often make leaderboards biased and/or inaccurate, which makes them lose their purpose.
Even speedrunning has its limit in regards as to what can be achieved. You could also technically play on a full hard drive to glitch it out and hope to get a better time from it.
We (and other communities in general) like to limit stuff to what you can do within the game, as in, not in the menus, and much less outside of the game itself. That is why changing versions and changing difficulties mid run is not allowed.
Random seed is worse because then people will just reset until they get just a seed, killing the category really fast, like it has happened with other categories that turned into resetting for a village. So this is definitely never gonna happen.
