Nope. The new version will be merged with the existing leaderboard. The new changes will be applied as soon as people have done runs of the new version.
We would've just added subcategories to the original sr1 but since so many things have changed it was better to just make a separate leaderboard. The game is still just another version of SR1 and not treated as a completely different game like redone and redone 2.
Yes. These changes have been noted and separate categories for the new version have been added to the leaderboards.
On another note, some of your single level learderboards seem to be broken. For example the lava land leaderboard has all stars selected always instead of being able to select the star.
Super Mario Star rejected due to no competition. Waluigi's Taco Stand added: https://www.speedrun.com/waluigis_taco_stand
I'm going to keep the srcom page the way it is since the hack doesn't have nearly as much interest anymore when it comes to speedrunning it. New categories probably wouldn't have any competition at all. However, I'll add the two categories to the spreadsheet if any runs of those categories are finished, and if they gain more popularity (probably 4 or more runners since the categories are miscellaneous compared to what romhack single star leaderboards normally have.) If you have any further updates on this subject then make sure to notify me on discord. You can find me on this server: https://discord.gg/TsTB9B9 And here's a link to the spreadsheet I mentioned: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1owANZ0xBFHpi7PaNKtNIjWl7lZzttrnviO7dQisJyeU/edit?usp=sharing
This website includes a page with downloads of patches for almost all ROM hacks ever released. It also includes a tutorial on how to use them on the FAQ page.
I doubt it matters that much. You'd probably lose a second or two at max to a slower course order.
Hardstyle, Mainstream hardcore or anything similar. Here's probably my all time favourite song. It's simple and got the banging bass that I so love. Goes well as a background music for gaming:
I also work on music myself too. I released this song fairly recently and I'm working on some more which I hope to upload soon :)
Is 70 star a "no major skips" or just "BLJless" category? I've always gotten mixed information about that.
For 0 star, 1.0 or 1.01 are the recommended versions for 20 star, 1.0 for 80 star, 1.0 for 130 star probably 1.0 but i'm not entirely sure. Deluxe is fine too for everything except 0 star if you dislike the camera in 1.0 but you will lose a little time because of the GG door not having an unlocking animation, not having a star spawn in b1 and slow king whomp.
So go with 1.0 if you're ok with the camera.
Yep. Drogie's "17 star" run is still there: https://www.speedrun.com/run/2ywdlo0z
Seems like you're using a glitchy video plugin. Most of the players use Jabo's video plugin 1.6 (default one on Project64 1.6)
A visible clue for starting the timing, such as the first frame for the title screen, should help a lot with timing a run accurately. Of course this might be a little inconvenient for RTA, and for me it's totally understandable if players want to keep starting their timer from restart. This change is just to make retiming easier, while not affecting the runs themselves at all. Also, we want to have the times on the leaderboard look similar to what they were. Changing to file select would change that by many seconds instead of under one second like with the 1st frame title screen timing. Traditionally, all the start menus have been a part of the speedruns (vanilla sm64 for example).
Starting the timing from file select like in 20 star is probably related to how the category used to only be a race category, where it would make sense to start the timer from selecting a file instead of a reset since slow resets can occur.
You don't have to show the EMU for the entire run. Just at some point, like at the end of the run.
