Okay so this is gonna sound a bit wired but I want a bad game to speedrun. Not a game that’s bad for Speedrunning but a bad quality game to Speedrun.
I love the idea of taking a shit game and just going at it with perfect optimization. It’s just such a funny contrast between quality of a game and quality of the run/gameplay.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions though? I have no clue where to start.
SM64: bad game, the controls suck when they decide to and camera is nonexistent
Catwoman (pc,ps2,gc) a really annoying and stupid game casually but a pretty "calm" speedrun
Drift86 while maybe not so bad but the cars are bars of soap that are bsrely controllable and the whole game is an asset flip
Strider(NES) watch the gdq live tutorial video from 2018
Mission escape from island: just a bad fps asset flip
Invention 2: same devs as the above mentioned but this is a zombie apocalopse fps with nonexistent level design
This one: https://www.speedrun.com/pgs1 The most Scratch game you have ever seen.
Dragon's Lair. Think GnG/Castlevania difficulty but with jankier controls and more annoying weapons
It's worth looking at the Bad Games Done Quick blocks of prior GDQs, they aren't easily searchable but you can just go through the recordings.
Basically everything Lucha runs: https://www.speedrun.com/user/Lucha_Gym (apart from some stuff like contra and megaman 1)
This isnt a game that is on speedrun.com, but i speedrun a flash game called Jonny Backflip and that is fun to speedrun. To beat it you must unlock all achievements, which for me takes about half an hour.
Pumpkin dog islands. You can get it on steam. It looks awful but the janktastic physics look like they could be excellent to abuse. Not on speedrun.com but maybe if someone makes a run for it.
If you stream it I will definitely watch! But I also support running Hotel Mario...it's just probably difficult to get the hardware and game.
i would say any shovelware game you have. most shovelware can be completed in like 30 minutes to an hour.
I made a game called "The World's Fastest Game". Its pretty low quality and its fast and simple so you could probably speedrun it easily. It's not on speedrun.com its on a website I made thats like speedrun.com but not. And NO I am not trying to copy speedrun.com in any way. I just thought bringing something I love along with coding would be fun. Anyways. If you just wanna speedrun it. You can simply contact me.
