Hello there! I'm a person who is new to speedrunning, I have been watching a couple of people do speed runs and I got very interested in the idea of speedrunning. So I would like to ask about what things you need to do in order to make a speedrun also the programs involved. If you can answer questions feel free to tell, I would appreciate the help.
Hello! For recording programs, feel free to check this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/streaming_recording_equipment/thread/qlnmy . After recording the runs, you can upload it to Youtube (and such) and and do a run submission (based on a game category that you run). If you opt to stream your runs, you can just highlight the runs that you did and do the same.
As for the timer, majority people use Livesplit due to easy setup (and autosplit feature). For timer setup, check out this video:
For the speedrun itself, it's really based on what games do you want to speedrun. My suggestion is to speedrun a game that you play casually so that you have a basic understanding of the game itself.
