Hi! I just got into the speedrunning community and I’m interested in speedrunning a couple games of my own. I have some burning questions that I need to ask first.

1. How can I time myself if I am busy playing the game? Would you reccomend having someone else time it for me?
2. What are the best timer apps and recording software to use?
3. How do I request a speedrun category for a game?

1. If you having an issue of timing the runs, you can always retime it after doing a runs (if you feel the need to add second person as your "timer", then go ahead :) ). also, some community (ex. Minecraft Java) made an autosplitter to ease out runner whose having this issue.
2. Most of the runners use Livesplit due to easy setup (and autosplit feature).
3. You can request any category through respective game page forums. It's best to also show the footage of you running the category based on your suggestion.
