Level Skip Glitch

Could somebody please explain how to execute the Level Skip Glitch?

Don't think the game's been updated since I last ran this game, so I shouldn't have to worry about answering this off the top of my head.

I think there are 2 different skips considered to be the "Level Skip," if I go by my current knowledge.

  1. Save File Manipulation. Basically, you complete the game, and then you erase your game data without exiting the game. Then, when you start the game and exit the first level, some future levels will be unlocked. This basically allows you to skip straight to level 6 in Version 1.04, which can allow for some different routes.

  2. Skipping the loading at the end of a level. Since you still have control over your character after placing the tears down, you can pause and exit the level. The flag for the next level appearing is flipped the instant you place the tears down, so you can save a bit of time by loading the hub. This may-or-may-not be considered a "Level Skip Glitch," but I'm gonna play on the safe side for now unless the community for this series says otherwise.

That sums it up. Might be easier to organize than game versions, too. ^^;

Hello!

Since I want to run this game very soon, I was wondering how to do the Level Skip Glitch. The 2 different skips you mentionned work, but on @quo WR, he performed the skip earlier. Basically, after the cutscene at the beginning, he quit the game, and when he enter the game immediatly after, all levels (except level 7) are already unlock. He even have the headband and the last leaf upgrade.

I would really like to know how to perform this version of the skip, because I really want to start running "Any% - Level Skip Glitch". It could be a good way to practice level 6 and 7, before attempting the category without the Level Skip Glitch.

Oh, I didn't even notice that. :O So it's the same as the first skip as before: make sure there's a save file with all levels unlocked, and with the headband and last leaf upgrade equipped. Then just delete the save data and start over; I haven't tried it out with a controller yet, but you can exit the game during the cutscene after collecting the very first tear. And then enter the game from the start menu, and you'll have most everything from the previous save file (except levels 2 and 7, I think. Oh, and berries.)

So basically:

  • Have save data
  • Delete save data
  • Start Game
  • Get 1st tear
  • Hit Esc once the house appears
  • Hit Enter once the menu appears

I'm gonna have to use that for my runs. Wait, there's also a no-skip category, so I should be fine with other routes. ^^;

Did some (not so) quick testing and I've narrowed it down to this:

Step 1: Launch the game Step 2: Beat levels and get 500 berries Step 3: Enter Extra World 2 (500 berry world) Step 4: Exit to main menu Step 5: Delete save data Step 6: Start new game Step 7: After getting the first tear, exit to main menu Step 8: Continue game

As long as you've beaten every world, they should all be unlocked and available. If you ever exit out of the game, you'll need to regain 500 berries and enter Bonus World 2 again. Video for the visual lerners out there:

I'll be doing some testing soon. Hopefully I could run this category on Tuesday or Thursday. Thank you so much for this guide ^-^

OK, I just noticed a very annoying thing, which will make speedrunning this game on stream painful (at least for me). When I do all steps, without exiting the game, it works as expected. However, if I finish all levels, collect 500 berries, THEN I exit the game, re-launch it, visit and exit extra level 2, and do the other steps, the glitch won't work (I'll just keep the upgrades). I don't know if I did something wrong, but currently, if I want to stream, I need to do step 2 before starting my stream, and keep the game open when i want to start my stream :/

in that case I believe you'd need to go beat world 5 (or 6?) then enter Extra 2, after that the game should register those worlds as "beaten" and will load them when you level skip.

Ok I was actually considering testing this method tomorrow. Thanks again ^^

Ok so. It doesn't work with level 6, but it works with level 5. So I'm ready to speedrun this game as soon as possible!

I'm still testing but looks like going into Extra 2 isn't even required? Still a lot of things to test rn and it sorta sucks cause there's no cloud backup or anything. I've launched the game, beaten World 5 then deleted save data and World 6 is accessible. There's some black magic going on in the background
