Holy crap, that is the greatest thing ever. You are my hero. Edit: Looks like you don't even have to press B, you can just press down after jumping to the right. I am guessing it saves 5-6 seconds, amazing. My initial thought was there might be away to glitch all the way to the bottom floor, but this is so good, great find spobble. |
Forum: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread: possible new glitch time saver but need help Started by: spobblespobble |
I have done that several times where I scroll the screen below where I want to go. I think the 2nd ceiling glitch will end up taking you to a room that looks exactly like the one that leads to the boss. However, if you try to enter the door, the game just freezes. If you go too far to the right, the game also freezes, which I am guessing happened to you. Unless you are talking about a different room after the 1st ceiling glitch, but from what I have seen there you will softlock the game also. Either way, I might not have tried everything, so keep looking and maybe there is something else there I missed, it would be a huge time save. |

Forum: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread: found glitches on approach to technodrome Started by: spobblespobble |
Hey spobble, good to see you experimenting with this game. The ceiling glitch in the tunnels there is known and that is the only other one that has been found to save time in the run. From what I remember, it only saved 1-2 seconds over the normal play in the tunnel, so I didn't want to add it to the run because of the risk. But, I am not sure if you are doing anything differently or found and other way to save time. If you could post a video of this it would be cool to see what you are doing here. |
Forum: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread: OOB in technodrome Started by: LFLF |
Hi LF, good luck with the TMNT runs. For the second OOB ceiling glitch you have to hold Up and then press A at the correct time to jump out of the floor. It is pretty precise, but you can learn it with practice. Here are a couple of highlights that I made explaining the ceiling glitches, but let me know if you have any questions. 1st ceiling glitch - 2nd ceiling glitch - |
Forum: Super Mario Bros. 2 Thread: New to speedrunning Started by: TerriaMachineTerriaMachine |
Hey TerriaMachine, you definitely chose a good game (and category) to start with. The community as a whole is great and Mario 2 has a decent amount of runners, although most people only play it from time to time. If you have any particular questions about the game, feel free to post them. You should really get video recording equipment if you want to get into speedrunning seriously, streaming is a big part of it. I wouldn't worry too much about submitting a time, but if you want to send a video of your cell phone recording, then go for it. It should get accepted as long as it can be verified as legit, although I am not sure how a cell phone videos would come through. But, if you are planning to do serious attempts and submit better times, then you really need to get something to record with. There are plenty of cheap capture cards and free recording software. Good luck! |

Forum: Super Mario Bros. 2 Thread: Homme Started by: |
I watched the VODs and they look very good and show the skill level needed to get an 8:26/8:27. It is good that Homme has done some live stream recordings that are out there. However, there also was an earlier VOD that was one of the main reasons I initially doubted the time. I had actually disregarded this after seeing the more recent stuff, but after getting the message from Kirua I saw this again and it made me wonder. Not sure if people have seen this, and I guess it could be offset by the other VODs, but this was from the French community Ultime Decathlon 3 weekly (?) Mario 2 race on May 7th. The run starts around the 1:25:40 mark. |

I think the uploads and cheat code/romhack streaming stuff are all good ideas. For the turbo thing, his response when I asked him was that he hasn't used turbo, but he has used his arcade stick to tap faster. I am not exactly sure what that means, but kind of a strange response for this game. My vote is for Trump |
