Hey just a quick question, does everyone use the full on speed characters (Wavy Davy and Robby Woody) on every course or just the easy ones?

Haven't played in a few years and found Wavy Davy very frustrating on the harder levels, where in Wave Race 64 he's at least tolerable on the harder levels.

I usually play at my best with Serena or Nigel.

Are there lesser known advanced techniques out there?

Dave Mariner is used for all courses except La Razza Canal. Hayami is used there.

As far as techniques, you'll probably want to watch the videos. It's mainly about boost timing and buoy routing. Nothing hidden or secret, really, just really precise timing and control.

Yeah, he's hard to beat. We also crank all the sliders to the right for the watercraft customization settings, for both Mariner and Hayami.

I remembered that there are a few "hidden" boosts. The weirdest one we've found is in a corner by the start/finish line on Arctic Bay. When you drive over a little bit of ice in the corner, you get a boost. Check out the fast lap WR on ABH if you want to see it in action.
