Rework of leaderboards

I did changes:

  • Wrote rules to every category
  • Changed theme to more "V-rally 2" menu style
  • Deleted "shortcut?" variable
  • (In progress) Level leaderboards
Finland

You changed the background pic too? SwiftRage

Czech Republic

Not interested? :( :D

Finland

Also, why'd you get rid of the cuts variable?

Czech Republic

Well, that "shortcut" is even slower that the normal course :D . Also, I think it was useless, its better to have "car" variable instead, doesn't it? :)

Finland

Even slower, yet I went faster with it. Hmmm.

Why do you feel the need to separate PAL/NTSC when this game was release on 3 different consoles with varying loading times? There's an in-game timer and at the end of each Arcade/Trophy/Championship, and that can be used for times submitted alongside RTA. And, I can't imagine anyone tested if PAL is slower than NTSC for each console release. Just because a game was release in both regions in the PS1-era, doesn't mean PAL is slower. Gran Turismo 1, PAL is slower than NTSC, but Gran Turismo 2, it's the other way around. That would clean up the board, so there isn't a sub-category for everything. The rule of "Any car can be used" shouldn't exist, unless there is a plan to add a New Game Plus sub-category, even though there is no post-game. Allowing only the starting cars for runs except cars unlocked throughout the category should be the rule of runs. Example: Using cars unlocked through Arcade Mode in an Arcade Mode run.

Just to mention something as well, the dreamcast version of this game was titled Expert Edition and it's races are much longer than that of the PS1 for some reason.

Thebpg13 have already supermod so rework leaderboards as you wish, I'm not running it yet :)

I don't even know how to "fix" these boards anymore. Its probably best to split consoles. I also think the 4 classes of cars should be split. A Nissan Micra shouldn't be on the same leaderboard as an Impreza or 405.

The big problem is, once you start splitting these things up too much, it becomes a mess.

Finland

Just because there's an in-game timer doesn't mean it's accurate between all regions. While it sounds like a good idea, unfortunately it doesn't show real-time for all. Submaniac93 was easily faster than me in Arcade level 1. I'm basing this on the fact that I randomly saw NTSC hotlaps in GT3, and the official time was different from the in-game timer, again, the timer in-game is inaccurate. Everything would need to be timed separately.

What's gonna happen to the board then? Whats the solution?

Finland

I have no idea :D

But I'm no longer in charge, may seem like a dick move but eh, I just wanted to submit the game.

Right the leaderboards have now been changed, lemme know what you guys think of it now :)

Ontario, Canada

Its a step in the right direction.

So now, the IL boards. Well, maybe it will be best to do it by SS. I can't remember if weather makes things different and if should matter (if yes, then split into categories). Also, great idea is to do it by country. Maybe split car classes (Like in existing leaderboards, "original", "bonus"). I also can make it if you want :)
