Thread: Possibly controversial Discord rule

Started by: MasterLeoBlueMasterLeoBlue

What Gelly said is quite clear to any average reader. Let me break it down for you. In this thread alone some of the red flags you've displayed are:
-loss of touch with reality (admitting that your proposed rule is potentially controversial and then claiming that nobody else's opinion is rationally based if it disagrees with yours; "My server will break all convention. A truly progressive and unique experience" without a shred of reasoning as to how or why that would be the case; "none of you are on the same wavelength," "none of you comprehend yet what is in store" as further examples of your delusions of grandeur)
-borderline sociopathic tendencies ("A place that getting kicked out would cause people to crawl back and beg to be in" expressing how badly you want some kind of obsessive power dynamic over your peers; "some opinions are obviously worthless" which is also an expression of some power dynamic as people are only "useful" to you when they agree with you, which is wrong)
-patronization ("darling" just makes you look like a creep, dude.)
On the basis of any of these things any reasonable person ought to avoid you. The mere act of trying to communicate this to you is an act of pure absurdity, and I do it more for the sake of anyone else who sees this and is tempted to respond far more than I do for your sake or mine.

Thread: Is 11 Exit Dead? - Choosing a Speed Game

Started by: chunkySoupchunkySoup

Fair enough, I was thinking merely in the context of this thread. I have seen some of the SpeedLore series and from what I remember you do highlight not only former WR holders but also TASers, strat finders and other community members as well. I was speaking from the perspective I imagine someone would have reading this that did not know about these things; I apologize for the vagueness.

The difference here, Goose, is between using potential WR as one motivatonal factor to improve and holding it up as the be-all-end-all of speedrunning. The former is not "WR culture" as Auth describes, the latter is. As it stands it seems more like you're commiting the exact wrongdoing you highlight in your examples rather than discouraging it.

edit to keep on topic: Also want to make clear a key point that's already been hinted at: Even if you're looking to learn games with the intention to have the best time, you should start with games you enjoy and games you're already good at regardless of how big or small the community is, and how easy or difficult a WR will be to attain. Your chances of having the motivation to grind out a game you can't stand long enough to be the best at it, even if there's only a few other runners, is far slimmer than your chances to have that same motivation with a game you're passionate about, even if there's hundreds of other runners. In addition I agree with Dots about games being "dead." Considering runs as dead sorely underestimates our ability to find new timesaves, develop new strategies and in general get better at games. Even if you feel a game is as optimized as it's ever going to get, it can still be worth it to learn, not just for fun but because in the future you might end up being the best at a new strat or glitch. You'll have a lot less catching up to do.

Oh of course! So you do DW no reds and go to basement immediately. Thanks! Also for CCCless I remember 72 or 73 being RTA viable.

How does this category work? Do stars collected without wearing a power cap simply not count, or is doing so banned, and if so how do you get to a power cap without any stars? There's only one run of this category and it has no video, so is there a route for it? I'm very interested in running this and CCCless but with the rules written as they are currently I can't fathom how it's actually done.

Here is a link to the general TumbleSeed server:

Most notably the server includes a stream announcement channel (no bot) and a Weekly Challenge discussion channel for seeded runs.

Happy tumbling!

Hi, I'm here from the THOTH community which is another twin stick shooter game. I just learned about this game and it appeals to me as a speedgame as well, so I'm wondering if there's a community Discord or some other resource for runners? 😃

I just realized that the Carlsen games discord hasn't been plugged here. If you're looking for help or advice running THOTH, we have resources and can offer lots of help here:

https://discord.gg/fYGbjq9

The server is dedicated to both THOTH and Carlsen's other game, 140, and likely will expand to include future releases as well. It's a very welcoming community, so if you have even the slightest interest, stop on by!
