Updated the rules for each category. Demos are now a required minimum for any submission with the exception for RTA marathon runs. Old runs will not be affected by this rule change. I highly recommend everyone to use the newest JoeQuake (v 0.16.2) as it has independent physics among other quality of life improvements. If you're using any of the older versions or NeaQuake you must not have cl_maxfps set to higher than 72. Any questions can be directed to me, Elgu or brainfluid in Discord PMs.
Whenever you load a save or restart a map, any demo recording stops. The only way to get actual proof of your run if it's not in demo form is in video form. Try recording/streaming with OBS or something.
Single segment is the way Quake is meant to be run, as back in the early SDA days, demos were the only things you could produce/submit with an acceptable filesize (and also because you can check for cheating much easier when you have a demo). With the advent of speedrun.com RTA runs were allowed for submission in order not to discourage newcomers. SS runs uses in-game time to calculate final run time, not taking the time you spend in intermission screens and the episode select map into account. Because of this difference between in-game time and real time, one cannot reliably compare the two, which is why all SS runs will be above RTA runs. This means we also don't need to split the leaderboards into SS/RTA for every single category.
If you're having problems getting SS runs you could always do safestrats and gradually implement faster and harder strats as you get better.
