It's the same either way. Taking out the spider with the rock is 5 points and taking out orat with the water is 5 points. If you instead take out orat with the spider, you get 10 points.

As noted by SantaClaus in his 6m28s run there is a significant disadvantage to using standard ScummVM over other things like QuanVM, DOSBox or even native DOS. I therefore propose we split each category by Platform (either ScummVM or Other). Any thoughts?

No rules exist for this run currently. All the runs I've seen, timing starts when you click New Game and ends on the last meaningful input (use Dead Fish on Sharpei).
