Some additional notes: Multiplayer ILs.

Similar to LCS, we have some Street Rage races that can be made into ILs. Namely:

-12 normal races: 2 in Vice Point, 2 in Washington Beach, 1 in Ocean Beach, 1 in Downtown, 2 in Little Haiti, 1 in Little Havana, 1 in Viceport, 2 in Escobar International.

-4 Quadathlon races: 2 in Vice Point, 2 in Downtown

-2 JetSki races in Vice Point

Let's make an IL for each one of these (For example: [Multiplayer] Washington Beach - Normal Race 2 - 3 laps). Each race shall be done in 3 laps (Except the Quadathlons, which are 1 lap only). Rules are the same as LCS: "Timing for multiplayer races starts upon triggering the race section ("GO" text disappears) and ends when the race has been finished ("Winner" text appears)"

Greetings gamers. I believe it is time we update the ILs leaderboard, as it is very lacking in its current state.

I will list every IL that is missing so they can be added, along with the timing rules. Here's a playlist for every possible IL in VCS: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEU5JmjaWUgyz3VcAMtBMibExFZELimG8&si=UykRc2qaEVi3vywa

Now for the missing ILs:

  • Every single story mission. This even includes missions like White Lies and Farewell to Arms because they have non-autoscroller sections in them. This also includes When Funday Comes, which already has an IL for the Quad race, but let's add another IL for the full mission as well. Timing can be just like LCS: Start from the moment the opening cutscene in skipped, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears.

Now there are two exceptions to this: Soldier, and Last Stand.

Since Soldier is the first mission, let's use the same start timing as full runs: the first frame of the first cutscene. As for Last Stand, there is no Mission Passed! text at the end, so I suggest either ending the timing the moment the credits appear, or on the first frame of the game fading in after skipping the credits.

-Paramedic, Firefighter, Vigilante, Air Rescue, Beach Patrol. Timing rules: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears. The missions must start at Level 1. Not 5, not 10, 1. Beach Patrol also has three different versions, so I split it into the following:

+Beach Patrol (Bikers): The variant where you're hitting bikes to knock bikers off.

+Beach Patrol (Coastguard): The variant where you're saving drowning swimmers with lifesavers.

+Beach Patrol (Paramedic): The variant where you're dropping off a paramedic at injured beachgoers to rescue them.

All three variants follow the same rules.

-Taxi Driver: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears. The mission must start with 0 fares dropped off and 0 cash made from the mission. To verify this, the runner shows the in-game stats, where neither the stat for fares nor the stat for money made are listed (if they are, the runner already made progress towards the mission and therefore is rejected).

-Vice Sights and Fire Copter: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears.

-Extortion, Loan Shark, Pimping: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment the textbox "Your (empire type) reputation has maxed out, you're now the (empire rank)." appears. The mission must start at Job 1/15. The type and rank for the textboxes are the following:

+Extortion: type = extortion, rank = Ultimate Badass

+Loan Shark: type = loan sharking, rank = Crim-Reaper

+Pimping: type = pimping, rank = Mack Daddy

-Drug Running, Smuggling, Robbery. Two types of ILs for these missions:

+IL for each individual job: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears.

+IL for the full mission (jobs 1 through 6): Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end either the moment "Mission Passed!" appears or the moment the "Your (empire type) reputation has maxed out, you're now the (empire rank)." appears (idk, you choose). The mission must start at Job 1/6. The type and rank for the textboxes are the following:

-->Drug Running: type = drug running, rank = Smack Daddy

-->Smuggling: type = smuggling, rank = Pirate Captain

-->Robbery: type = robbery, rank = Heist Meister

-Sanchez/BMX/Quad Bike Time Trials, Watersports. ILs for each individual course already exist, but let's add an IL for the full mission for each one of these. Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed! appears.

-Phil's Shooting Range: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears. I can't suggest a high score IL for this, because there is an objective limit to how high your score can go up, and it's fairly easy to achieve (3000 points each round).

-Swinger's Club: Start from the moment the mission title appears, and end the moment "Mission Passed!" appears. I don't know if a high score IL could work for this, because it just boils down to getting 5 perfect shots and some single-digit differences, but feel free to add one if it makes sense.

-Crash! and Rush!: These two missions are full-on autoscrollers, so instead of a traditional time attack IL, I suggest a high score based one. Simply achieve the highest score you can make for each mission.

All of these are timed through RTA, not IGT. While at it, update the already existing ILs to use RTA timing standards instead of IGT.

That's all. Let's remake the IL leaderboard and potentially spark interest in these things. Maybe you want to figure out what the fastest possible way to beat a certain mission is, or you simply want to share your PB of that mission, these leaderboards should allow you to present that to others.

More things/details to add: Japanese PSP: • Increased chaos points, mainly when shooting or throwing explosives (Useful for getting quick cop car spawns, but can be annoying in some missions like Jive Drive and Purple Haze where you get 3 wanted stars instead of 2.).

  • All of Taxi Driver, Paramedic and Beach Patrol instapasses crash on this version, making the international version by far the preferred version for 100% runs.
  • Extortion dupe can softlock at any level when entering a store (also there's an annoying fade that happens every time you enter a store). • To add to the auto-aim issue, you don't need to re-aim at each individual NPC. You can simply switch to the next NPC very quickly after killing the one you were targeting. PS2:
  • Increased spawn rate for rampage gang members, especially if they're hostile.
  • Different weather cycle (The most notable change is the increased frequency of rainy weather.).
  • Notable frame drops in the funfair area (I assume it's because of the ferris wheel.).
  • All of Taxi Driver, Paramedic and Beach Patrol instapasses crash on this version, so these missions must be done dupeless in 100%.
  • Extortion dupe can softlock at any level when entering a store (also there's an annoying fade that happens every time you enter a store), so this mission must be done dupeless in 100%. • Vigilante dupe works similarly to Firefighter dupe in this version, expect for one key difference: It doesn't remove suspects from past levels and they stay loaded. This causes the game to crash from overloaded memory more often than not before you can finish Vigilante, so you need to cancel and restart one instance at every checkpoint to clear the excess criminals.
  • Robbery dupes have a chance to crash the game on the loading screen of the second instance. Should the game not crash, the dupes will work the same way as on PSP. If you're trying 100%, you should only attempt these dupes if you're willing to risk it for a better PB.
  • While on PSP, you can start Vigilante immediately after cancelling a side mission, this isn't the case on PS2. In this version, there's a small delay between cancelling a submission and starting Vigilante. This is important to take into account as it makes 3x setups less consistent (You can receive pagers during that delay).
  • To allow a path into the new USJ at the funfair, R* removed part of the wood wall there, which provides an easy alternative entry into the funfair.
  • The ramp in Leaf Links next to the entrance has been removed. This should be taken into account when routing the new USJ leading to Leaf Links for All USJs/100%.
  • A wide hilly bump was placed at Diaz's mansion in this version, and can be used as a shortcut out of there in the mission Domo Arigato Domestoboto.
  • It's impossible to megajump in this version no matter what (Detonator, binoculars, or even well-timed jumps after jumping off a bike or falling off a high platform). -The Redwood Jr. replica on top of the grocery store next to the Little Havana police station gains collision (it has no collision on PSP). This is a problem for the balloon behind the replica, as it can only be shot with a sniper rife or explosives. • The following aren't relevant to speedruns but I felt the need to point them out for completionism: • Different easter eggs (The message board inside the Viceport ship, the message board at the stadium, and the 11th smiley face + literal easter egg). • Firetrucks automatically try to extinguish random fires nearby even if they're unnoccupied (don't ask me why I know this). • Some weapons have different sound effects (Explosives use the same sound as car explosions, the Stubby Shotgun uses the same sound as the SPAZ-12.). • Some vehicles have different engine sounds (Mostly just higher-pitched versions, though some like the Hunter and the Perennial sound completely different.). • Minor visual changes on some vehicles (Wintergreen and VCPD Wintergreen have longer windshields, Blista Compact gains black stripes on it's back window.). • Air Ambulance has a fully-functioning radio (No radio on PSP). • Higher-quality grass textures and vegetation (Starfish Island especially looks very different and more like it's VC design.). • The USJ on a rooftop in southwest Ocean Beach has a different camera angle and position, pointing east rather than west.
