Nope, rules say video required. Sorry

Michigan, USAKorZen4 months ago

It would definitely be interesting, but there would also simply be too many categories, especially when the full game comes out. A "Coiny" and "Non-Coiny" category is better, but even then I'd bet everything would be dominated by Firey anyway

EDIT: I was only referring to IL runs, I think that subcategories for full game is a very good idea

Also:

-fix "cloudy ciffs"

-more importantly, the rules need to be more comprehensive than just "beat the game". Can I use external tools? How does run start/end timing work, and are we using RTA or IGT? Are glitches allowed? Which ones? Gotta consider all of this.

EDIT: sorry, I didn't look at the IL rules before posting this. Those are definitely better but still not perfect. Definitely fix the full-game one though.

This is good to know, thank you!

no one is ever beating this

I just screamed "NO" in lowercase

Oh and I should also mention: while it might seem as such, both grab-boosting and box jumps technically aren't glitches at all! As far as I'm aware, wall clips are the only true glitches we've found in this game so far. In here lies the trouble of a glitchless run. Replacing this with an intended% run fixes all of this though.

This timing is actually really funny. We have literally just been talking in the Discord server about what an intended% run (only using intended strats, so no glitches, skips or unintended movements) would look like. I guess there is potential to add it to a leaderboard someday? It could make for a very interesting speedrun, although I do understand the fears that Fewtoo is bringing up as well, so it will probably be more of a "mock" category when all is said and done.

I made this spreadsheet a long time ago with restrictions for an intended% speedrun if you're interested: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gPZ6IJNl0GVQEmE6rb5BOdeEsmu8sqazZGNDuIoHTy4/edit

Idk if you've thought about it Miggle, but you should consider joining the 5b discord. We talk a lot about speedrunning there and it seems like you're pretty interested in all of it!

Nice 15-minute-long world record đź‘Ť

Wait Miggle, you're able to TAS?

Okay so I did some testing, and with the setup... well... it's really close. The fastest time I've been able to get is a 6.9, although that was with the setup and a corner clip on the frame-perfect jump (it would be faster to not have the corner clip happen, though there's not really a way to control that). I would guess that if the corner clip is avoided, it's possible to barely squeak out a record with the setup and with perfect play.

This strat is possible! I used it in the following video. As for if it's faster or not, that's a great question. I believe that if it were to be faster, the clip would have to be done without a setup, which makes everything a whole lot tougher. Maybe I'll do some testing to see whether or not it's possible. Great idea regardless!

You see how as soon as Match gets over the wall, I do a motion where I jump to the left, curve to the right, and then walk off? That's the setup I use. And to clarify, there is no known setup to flawlessly get a wall clip every time in a scenario like this; it's hard to overstate just how lucky this run was. This is the most consistent thing I've found so far, though.

couldn't tell you bub

Meester calls it the "Zombie carry", and yeah, it's really goofy. Here's a demo from level 48 I made a while ago to show what's going on. The "teleporting" thing happens when there isn't an object between Ice Cube and the character "carrying" her; in this example, if I walked far enough to the right, Ice Cube would immediately snap to Book.

Very interesting.

Good question! It is a technique found by Coppersalts, where if you align yourself perfectly on the left side of a ledge, you will fall off, but the game will think you are inside of the wall.

It is SUPER precise; if you're familiar with subpixel (distances smaller than a pixel) positioning in games such as Super Mario Bros. 1, well, that's exactly what's going on here, too. Because it relies on subpixel positioning, it won't always work even if you're in the right spot every time.

Basically, the way to get it is to just run off of a ledge a bunch of times until you get it. As far as I'm aware, there exists a setup for the trick only in level 15.

You have to start a new game for every run (i.e. delete your progress).

For the unofficial world records, the 11:34 was set by me, not Ant. Also, I got an unofficial world record on June 5th of 11:10.
