Thank you for the note on how to do it on keyboard. I like your idea how to bind it. I am excited to continue my skills with this new technique.

I am currently trying, but by trying that means i am banging my head on cheat engine to find pointers. This is new to me, and i know the theory, but i am failing. I do hope it gets made. The discord is buzzing with KEX stuff.

Hello, with the KEX port, comes a whole new board to run. That being said, anyone know of an auto splitter? I don't need start and end, just levels. Thanks in advance, and either way happy ripping and tearing.

New thought, is saving immediately on a new level work? Like if i completed a level, and quick saved right as the next level spawns. Than half way through i die, and rather than run being over you can load beginning of level, as no enemies are agro-ed?

ok, than i bet the button out of bounds works, and i am rusty. I know it has it's own boards now, so i go over there. i found them. TY though. I also learned how to downpatch for unity, so i am golden. more doom!



I am curious how the leader boards are going to be updated, if at all. Sigil II was not part of this update, and they added a new offical episode. Is Sigil II just being dropped as a run at this point? I still have sigil II runs that never where verified; so i stopped running it.



and the KEX engine, i was unable to hit the switch from within the acid on E2M2. I guess you always speed run the fastest version; but i am curious to run the newest "game" Legacy of Rust. I did not try the out of bounds skip.



I can't rocket jump, so can't test that. E1M4 you can still jump acrod acid. Anyway, i am going to be watching here for updates on what runs.

Just curious what people thought of "Individual Levels" where you clear say just Square tetris 11 ranks until you get the "you have colonized..."



They reason i ask, is that is how i intened to grind until i do a full run. I come from Doom 1993 and they have IL. Where i got the idea. I am playing on PC. OBS Capture.

On August 8th, 2024-Bethesda released a new Doom port. Now running in the kex engine, this source port was a surprise release across multiple platforms, to celebrate over 25 years of Doom!

Currently, the leaderboard is being built to accommodate this port, and will be open for submissions at a future date in time.

The moderators are currently researching to ensure the leaderboard is in a structured state upon allowing submissions.

**Hey y'all! Just wanted to announce a few things where it would be hard to miss so that there's no confusion moving forward.**

Recently, there's been some findings regarding the save/load features on the Kex port. Namely, loading can mess with enemy aggro and send them walking in a different direction instead of attacking you. Something like this can very easily derail full game run categories and, frankly, is not something we can easily police or track. **As such, a new rule went into place earlier today that bans loading saves in full game runs, at least for the time being.** This rule will be in place until a patch comes out that fixes this issue.

Another rule that I wanted to make people aware of is the new rules regarding the Screen Flash Effects. In the accessibility options of the Kex port, you can toggle Screen Flash Effects on or off. **Effective tomorrow (8/21), high level runs must have Screen Flash Effects toggled ON.** Specifically, this rule applies to:

- Top 5 Solo Full Game submissions
- Top 3 Co-Op Full Game submissions (in this case, **the rule only applies to the host**)
- World Record Individual Level submissions

The reason for this rule is simply to make verification of high-level runs easier. With these Screen Flash Effects on, we can more easily search for discrepancies in runs and ensure fair play among the most competitive runners. If any runner must play the Kex port with Screen Flash Effects off for medical reasons (i.e. photosensitivity epilepsy, etc.), feel free to message the mods directly and we will keep your condition in mind.

New Rules Regarding Kex Speedruns

**Hey everyone!**

Yesterday, an update for the Kex Port was released. Among the many patches and quality-of-life changes made, **the update made SR50,** ***a faster straferunning technique, possible on Kex!***

To perform SR50 (StrafeRun-50), one must have a forward input and *two* strafe inputs for the same direction. This is done by holding “move forward”, “strafe left/right”, the “Strafe Modifier” button (unbounded by default), and “turn left/right”. Using the turn inputs while holding “Strafe Modifier” will register as strafe inputs, thus allowing players to have two strafe inputs at any given moment. 

Note that a side effect of SR50 is that your look angle is locked in place while you use it, so optimal movement with SR50 will take some getting used to. Also note that players must bind the “Strafe Modifier” input themselves, since it is off by default. While runners are encouraged to test out different key binds to find one that is comfortable to them, I personally recommend the following setups:

For Controller players, binding “Strafe Modifier” the left bumper or trigger, while keeping turning and movement controls unchanged, is recommended.

For KBM players, binding Right Mouse Button to “strafe modifier”, E to “turn left”, and “Q” to turn right, is recommended. Note that Q and E are “inverted” as holding “AWE” or “QWD” is generally quite comfortable.
