Thanks for the replies!
Sylwer328, if your guide isn't on the discord please post it here! Otherwise I'll see it there, thanks
Hi, I'm looking to start speedrunning this game.
Does anyone have any guides for any%? (Either the RTA or TAS strats, since I believe TAS strats were different). Thanks!
Does anyone also have a link to any discord for the speedrunning of this game? If so can I please have it (the discord link on this page doesn't work). Thanks again!
If Kenya was Level 20 (like it is in HG/SS) there'd maybe be a chance (especially in Gold / Silver because no Raikou) but yeah sadly 7 levels less is too low.
Mud-Slap would also be good against Rock types like Onix too, as well as help in Morty's gym (probably)
Update: on my SC guide I just updated the one thing that was incomplete! (Fight #29)

It’s done! First started this project in September 2017 so this is finished 3 years and 3 months after I started (and potentially 3 days also, because I believe I started on the 28th but I don’t know that for sure!).
The guide is very verbose, so please do not feel free to contact me for help via speedrun.com or discord if you need help understanding any of the guide.
Note: while this guide is mostly finished, there is ONE fight that might not be optimised. This is Fight #29 (Thelxe and Voxai Conspirator x2) - it is possible (although I don’t know for sure) that if the right Voxai Conspirator is defending, then you can get the fifth touch input wrong to avoid the “Perfect!” message at the end. Can someone please test this for me by saving before Fight #29 and repeatedly trying the fight (yes this is tedious I know) until the right Voxai Conspirator defends on their second turn and then getting the fifth touch input wrong and see what happens? Alternatively, if the left Voxai Conspirator defends on their first turn, you can get the fifth touch input wrong on the left Voxai Conspirator to see what happens. This note is at the bottom of the guide too!
NG+ would work, the main problem though is that the runs themselves would be little-to-no fun because you'd be overleveled and just destroy everything.
Additionally there'd be little competition since battles would have less variance so times would be almost identical

Update: Hope to have this done by the end of July
Update: Have not worked much on this route over the last 6 months.
I'm going to get back on this in August / September time. I still have all the notes I made so it will be finished by October latest.
Thanks! I was pretty confident about 31 IVs and no pokerus but wanted to double check.
And thanks for the good luck, I won't be able to post runs for a few years still but am keen to start practising!
I want to start any% runs with Naughty Tepig.
On RPG Reporter, I obviously know the nature but what IVs must Tepig have for any% runs? And do you need pokerus (I'd assume yes but want to make sure) Thanks
Update: Have 100% finished my notes on Chapters 1-9. All I need to do now is play them again to confirm my notes, then make notes on Chapter 10
That’s a good idea, the way I personally do it is that I remember the corners, and to the right of 4 is 5 and below 4 is 6
Hi,
I have began working through the route for Any% and making a guide, and have just finished Chapter 5.
So far, the updates I have made to the route have included introducing Triple Tornado, Hail Storm and Knuckles Express as POW Moves used, and changing the shopping trip at the start of Chapter 3.
I’m posting this to say two things - firstly, I plan to finish this by the end of April, and secondly, if anyone has any ideas/suggestions about the route/guide, feel free to let me know :)
Interesting idea, but I think making the rules for the categories would be too complicated - would everyone have to start at the same level, with the same stats and items etc.? If so, which level, stats, items etc.? And if not, it wouldn't allow for fair competition
It is, however, a possible category
Hello,
as far as I'm aware, using more than one console for single-player speedruns is generally banned.
Otherwise people would just trade in Level 100 pokemon and it wouldn't be a challenge.
Hi Benjee,
top runners (to my knowledge) are using the 'up-to-date' route.
Can anyone tell me what stats trainer Pokémon have? Is there a general rule (gym leaders have 31 IV in everything etc.) or is it different for each trainer? Thanks
