did someone see the new uncharted 2 gameplay? Looks pretty ggod in my opinion. I still hope the don't fix the clipping technic in Uncharted 1 😃

I know it is still really early, but I am really interested in learning to run these games. However I am unsure if I should throw down for a PS3 and UC1 or if I should just wait and see how the runs go for the PS4 and the collection. Any advice would be great 😃

Sadly nobody knows how Uncharted 1 is going to be on the Collection. We all are waiting for the release so we can test out things.

So there has been only 1 Drake's Fortune gameplay video that I have seen.

Now there are a few concerns about whether it will have the same physics, and 1 thing that support it.

At 8:39 - drake vaults over the barrier - this looks like different animations to the original.

At 8:50 - grenade controls are the same as UC2 (seperate button - not equiping a new weapon) - this is a big one.

At 8:54 - drake does a spin then jumps a barrier - when he spins and when he jumps down his legs look a bit to 'fluid' for UC1 (I think they screwed up the animations a bit).

At 10:45 - drake walks down the stairs - this is the same animation as typical in UC1.

Unfortunately the big giveaway would have been how drake jumped, but they didnt show this.

My prediction is that UC1 will be closer to UC2. The big thing is grenade controls since this is what allowed Nathan Drake to air-walk in UC2 and the inspect button (changed to up button) is what let us clip through walls in UC1.

Lastly our good friend Ovendonkey is now also working for Naughty Dog as a play-tester. He may help them fix all these issues, leaving a game with little speedrun potential. (BTW he can chime in here if he wants to 🙂 )

They are however adding a 'speedrun' mode, which might imply they are leaving some broken stuff in and actually supporting the UC speedrunning community. My money is not on this though.

I currently have my PS4 set up and my PS3 out of commission (hence my lack of speedrunning). You can be garanteed I will get this when it is available.

Sadly that was what I was afraid of. Money is tight so I wasnt sure if I should wait and get the PS4 version or get the PS3 version. I would hate to buy a PS3 then find out I could have gone for the PS4. Oh well 🙂 Thanks for the info. Probably just gonna get the PS3 since I want to play the old Ratchet and Clank games as well!

If you want to buy Uncharted 1 for the playstation 3 i recommend the psn version ^^ it's about 50 sec faster 😃
Besides, the Nathan Drakes Collection comes out on the 7th (or 9th). So if you aren't sure you can just wait the 2 weeks ^^

More footage:

Just based on overall movement, I think all 3 engines are identical just improving from the 60 fps making it seem weird. Final impressions for running:

UC1: Looks like we'll have sub 40 times with loading improvements and lower difficulty (already thought up 2-3 minute time savers from lower difficulty). I'm 90% sure aim clipping works based on what I seen. The only reason it won't is 60 fps but this can probably be countered by mashing as fast as you can. We can assume this since aim clipping downwards on LoU is very difficult on 60fps for this very reason. The game has more frames/time to check its position. If anyone gets this early, this was my plan of testing:

1. Do normal clipping method
2. If 1 fails, mash as fast as you can
3. If 2 fails, check display options for a 30 fps option
4. Retry 1 and 2
5. If 4 fails, then we are out of luck

UC2: Looks to be same 1.09/1.10 patch so unrunnable. The only saving grace here is loading times/lower difficulty being so OP to combat the time skips save but that's very unlikely.

UC3: They didn't show much but I actually think camera mash up bug in Chapter 6 will be fixed simply due to 60 fps. It's then a case of working out if the 2 minutes lost from that skip not working can be made up in loading/running at 60. Again a 30 fps option might make it work.

So tried out the demo.

Blindfire clip works:

Normal wall breach is meh. I think it works but you have to be like perfect in your motions for every turn. I've gotten his body 40% past most walls but then he refuses to go any further. Either I'm messing up a lot or the walls now have full detection of Drake aka this is patch 1.11 if it existed on PS3.

Doesn't bode well for UC1 now if they fixed this.

So to kick things off. Most of this will be common knowledge by now but if not.

Stuff that has been found:

1) Aim clipping is now key to wall clipping. The original look clipping still can work but is painful.

Always look over Drake's right shoulder (I have turned the swap shoulders option OFF).
I found that generally holding an AK (big gun) helps get through many gates better (clipping into unflat or thick surfaces), Pistol helps get through walls better. (There will be an easier option for each individual wall clip).

2) Vine Clip doesn't work - it launches you right over the checkpoint and the level.

3) All other tech works at the moment (final boss sequence skip still works).

4) In super easy mode you can vault over a barrell near the plane crash to vault out of bounds. I was getting this at least 50% of the time.

5) The puzzle skip into the Treasure Vault is now super fast to load (10 seconds) but is much more difficult to accomplish (clipping is painful).

6) No Hardlock during the monster chase scene.

7) Almost no wait time to avoid the softlock into the submarine.

😎 Almost no wait time when you clip through the bell tower in sanctuary.

9) Checkpoint saving now only takes about 2 seconds so you don't lose as much time to complete a 'safe run'.

10) I did not get sky launches to work but didn't try for too long. Please let us know if anyone confirms it.

11) I also found that photo mode gets very confused, very easily in speedrunning. It just locks you out after a while. Didn't find any tech yet with photo mode.

12) I randomly died when I did the vault-air jump in the Treasure Vault. When I landed, I died as if it was too high. Next time I did it was fine.

13) If you trigger the enemies in chapter 11, if you just shoot at the guy on the machine gun you can run straight past in super easy mode. I have to test it but it may be quicker just to clip through the door and run past the men now.

Things that still don't work that I tested:

¤You still cannot skip the big fight in the treasure vault (cannot get onto the walkways)

¤Chapter 1 water still works the same way (couldn't swim to anywhere important).

¤You cannot go below the church prior to chapter 21.

¤You cannot skip to level 4 by clipping through the wall (still doesn't load the whole map).

Yeah 13 was one of my ideas I had last week for the run, should be way faster. The other idea I had depends on PS4 loading. When you get to Sanctuary, don't hit the checkpoint on the right behind the gate (the big skip one) but just go to the left and clip out during the fight. When you did this on PS3 Elena died when it triggered a new loading zone but a combination of PS4 and pausing just when it loads in should work and save another 20-25 seconds.

So a few things:

1) You can now run all the way through the jeep area. It loads in correctly when you run far enough down the road. You can make it all the way to the final bridge. After the final bridge you fall to your doom.

2) you were partly right Thrillness. You can use photo mode to buffer elena out without her dieing while you hang from the wall. However you need to enter chapter 15 otherwise the puzzle room doesn't load. Everything gets a little funky outside.

3) I am super close to achieving a 'Hey Bule' Skip in Chapter 16. I am 90% sure it is possible. There are 2 possible methods which may work (one may be a painful sky launch, the other easy if I can get it).

4) Oh and BTW Sky Launches work.

5) You still cannot skip collecting all checkpoints in chapter 6.

So the new Glitch has been sorted. It is actually a warp. If you are hanging off a ledge that despawns, when you next try to move it warps you to another ledge (closest?? not sure).

I have done this in two locations.

This obviously has huge potential if the right ledge can be despawned.

Just thought maybe there are some skips that can be done for chapter 1. I found an unloaded area with collision. It is maybe chapter 2 as it shows this brief x to jump tutorial. More research needs to put into this.
