Thread: Leader Board Region Your Run Was On?

Started by: seabiiseabii

The reason why we don't have that is because there are no region differences between versions of 06. The text speed is completely identical, and there are no version exclusive glitches or anything like that either.

On top of that, you can change the language of the game at any time, so there's no such thing as a "Japanese Version" vs. an "English Version" just only what you've set the game to.

Thread: (Request) Individual Levels

Started by: JdniscoolJdniscool

For a slightly more in-depth response,

We are considering adding sonic gemless individual levels to this speedrun.com page, since there is no category on TSC for it (and in my opinion there shouldn't be one on TSC).

Other than that no, we have no plans to move the ILs from TSC unless the site itself goes down. (Which might very well happen in the next two years)

I've been meaning to make a full tutorial for this game and update all the strats since the early game one is so bad, I'll actually spend tomorrow on stream making one 🙂

Thread: PS3 Version

Started by: CobraCobra

Yes and yes to both --

The reason why 360 has faster loads, is because you can install parts of the game onto the hard drive. This saves upwards of ten full minutes over PS3 loads, so PS3 is basically not viable whatsoever in terms of competitive 06 RTA speedrunning 🙁

Not only that but auto lock-on mechanics work different in PS3 than they do in 360 so tricks like the Wave Ocean skip and the dusty desert swag strat thing will not work.

That being said you can definitely still technically run on PS3 and try to see how good of a time you can get on it, its a completely viable option for IL speedrunning and there are even certain individual levels that are faster on PS3 due to the increased lag.

But yeah, loads are massively faster on 360 and certain important tricks only work on 360 ;-;

Sorry our broken game only has one viable console 🙁

Thread: I don't run this but i gotta question

Started by: 6078

lol I'll assume you mean unintended glitches, and to answer that...not really

Once you've run this game for a long enough time, there aren't many glitches that happen where/when you don't expect them to, the game is surprisingly consistent in its glitches and it makes speedrunning this game viable.

Let me give you an example, casually you would never know that entering the final loop of wave ocean on the right side of the boost panel will send you careening off the edge instead of into the goal ring which kills you. That is a glitch, the boost pad should take you to the ring no matter where you enter it (and it sucks if you get caught by it) but it is easily avoidable. If you have that knowledge from previous runs and instead enter on the left of the loop, you will be fine and finish the stage normally.

There are tons more examples I could give you in every stage but the point is that although '06 is glitchy, most of the time random glitches don't happen to you in a speedrun, its very consistently glitchy that way.

Hope that helped!

Hey, for anyone who is interested in speedrunning Sonic '06 we have a skype group for all active/passive runners or prospective runners. PM me at twitch.tv/tripl3ag3nt what your skype name is if you would like to join (or if you're bold enough, post it here in the forum).

I HEAVILY encourage this if you have any tiny interest in running 06, we are a very nice and inclusive bunch I promise.

Yeah maybe also add like "180 Gold Medals" or "Last Story" as other misc. categories, why not, I say go for it, they have that feature for categories that are just "for fun" so why not use it

Thread: Speed Gaming Questions!

Started by: tripl3ag3nttripl3ag3nt

Lol that trick is a doozy, made even more difficult by the fact that there exists no tutorials, and nobody knows how to do it because we all have JP versions. My suggestion to you would be to get the Japanese version (N64 or VC) and forget about english yoshi skip

HOWEVER if you really want to learn how, I know 2 people within the PMario community that know how to do it consistently. AisforAndis knows and Stryder7x also can do it, maybe PM them on twitch (those are their twitch usernames) or show up in their chats.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but that's just one of those tricks that nobody knows how to do, even veteran runners

For Sonic 06 the LBs here are painfully outdated, how can I help that, I can update them with newer times and more people (video links and all) I just don't know how.
