You're the hero we need but don't deserve. Park 2 100% is awful (even compared to Park 1 100%).

I'm sure this was a thing already but here's a video of it being done for 96 and out of the blue coin gate for 120. Saves 3-5 seconds.

5 days is a long time, to be honest. If there were only one mod checking LB once or twice every 5 days, runs would never get approved on a timely basis (that's not the issue here since you guys have 7 mods as of this post, but it's a hypothetical situation). Some people are the type that want their run approved within 1 hour of submission, other don't care either way, but inevitably you'll have both types with a game this big.

HD brings a valid point. A way to be active is to also partake on the forums and add your 2 cents on forums posts (I don't know if you do that or not already, but since this post exists, I'm gonna guess the latter of the two). Answer questions, start topics, join races, do runs (not even sure these two are necessary for the topic at hand, but doing it doesn't hurt unless you're a "retired" runner), all that sort of jazz.

In my opinion, the point of moderation is to ensure things move in a timely manner while doing so efficiently. There will be times where arguments pop up or heated discussions arise, and that's part of a moderator's job— to moderate. It's not just about approving runs or doing runs, it's also about helping the community grow and function so it doesn't turn into a shit-show like some other communities (won't name names, but I'm sure everyone knows at least one or two that I'm referring to).

Bump --- There's a number of meme categories that'll never make it to "category" status such as...

Ride the Yoshi - Start from race file, get on Yoshi as fast as possible, using any method. Damageless - Get the most amount of shines without ever taking damage - air damage from underwater level shines such as Noki 3 is okay though. Sunglasses% - Start from race file, get sunglasses on Mario as fast as possible, using any method. All Nozzles - Start from race file, collect all possible nozzles in all levels except for the Rocket Nozzle in Corona Mt. All Blue Coins - Beat the game as fast as possible while collecting all 240 blue coins (formerly known as 69 Shines). And the one you're talking about...

Piantissimo% - Start from race file, defeat all three Piantissimo races as fast as possible, using any method.

I'm sure there's a number of other minor meme/race stuff that won't ever make it to being a category lmao.

Since I'm the only one who runs 100% and have done recorded runs, I'll link them here as an unofficial 100% tab for LB and as a guide for anybody else who wants it.

Here are the rules for the 100% category:

-Timing is done by real time. -Timing starts after selecting "Play in Pokepark". -Timing ends on the first full black frame after the text after beating Mew in the Chase skill game for the second time. You must have all friends and have viewed the special cutscene as well. -S + Q is allowed. -The 100% definition requires to fully upgrade Pikachu's stats, complete the friend list, and obtain all bonuses in all attractions. -Best Friend entries in the Friend List are not required. -Runs must be done on the English version. -Password features are required (Surfboard, Balloons and Snowboard only). -Passwords can be added after creating the file and before doing the run.

If there's anything that's wrong or that I'm missing, please let me know.

Edits: Changed the rules and the post to match the current ruleset.

Not entirely sure where to submit a run, so I'll just throw them in here.

Game: Super Mario Sunshine Category: any% EST Run Time: 1h 25m 00s Current WR: 1:15:50 by nindiddeh Current PB: 1:19:57 PB Video: Additional Info: Very popular speedrun, this run shows high level play and precision of harder strats. Many glitches are used throughout the run, one of which saves 10 minutes alone.

Game: Pokepark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure Category: any% EST Run Time: 2h 30m 00s Current WR: 2:22:12 by me Current PB: 2:22:12 PB Video: Additional Info: A niche Pokemon game, quite mellow but still enjoyable as a speedrun. The run relies solely on reacting well to RNG and playing the skill games correctly. No glitches are used in this run, very few exploits are used.

As with the majority, not entirely a fan of the new layout. My biggest complaint with this is that the top header takes up far too much space at the top.

Pinna Park and Sirena Beach do not have either nozzles for the player to obtain. --- Ride the Yoshi is a meme/misc. category in where you ride Yoshi as fast as possible. not that this tournament is gonna be a thing, but if it was, it's kinda not fun to organize a bunch of brackets for different skills levels (1:16-1:19, 1:20-1:24, 1:25-1:29, 1:30-infinity). one of the reasons why this was gonna be an "anyone can join if they want" is so they can have fun and learn to improve themselves. if you race against people that are better, you learn from them (at least, if you watch them ever). lastly, i could have a 1:40 and still race against bouncey and have a chance in the event he was having an off day and game over'd during the race. it's not about skill, it's about having fun and the determination to improve oneself at the game (not that i do that anymore, but you get the point).

Texas, USAdeathline7 years ago

It's in the eye of the beholder, right? Even if you think you're awful, some people think you're great. This mindset is literally Sunshine. It doesn't matter if you have WR or a 1:55. If you want to improve and reach a point where you can say "Hey, maybe my PB isn't so bad now", or "I reached my goal of getting sub 1:30/1:20", then that's all that really matters. Like I said, this is just to have fun, meet new people, and trying to better yourself at speedrunning Sunshine.

@bouncey: welp, having more matches in my eyes is a way to help focus with the objective of winning the race. the more you have, the more you can get better (imo)

@rhombus/speedrunner: that's fine if you guys don't particularly want to join, but this is for fun, not for competition or anything. It's a way to have the community come together and have some fun (and not be labeled toxic all the time (even though I still call it toxic, I'm dumb)). It's also a way to help improve your gameplay and make new rivals/friends or whatever.

@Tones/gc: I'm stupid. What you said is correct and is what I ¤meant¤ to write down but this was right before bedtime after a long workday, I kinda got distracted and wasn't really paying attention to what I was typing and that ended up with me thinking about good people racing against good people and closer skill level races.

At the end of the day, I'm going to assume that this is a resounding "no" thus far.

Texas, USAdeathline7 years ago

I'm wondering if anybody is interested in an any% tournament (much like the Luigi's Mansion tourney as of recently). If anyone ¤does¤ want to join, bump thread of pm me on twitch or twitter or something, idk. As far as how the tourney would be setup, I personally do it like this:

Setup #1:

Seeds are randomly generated and are assigned to a random entrant. For example, there could be 32 entrants with PB times ranging from 1:16-1:30. Anyone could race against anyone. Now, I understand some people don't wanna get screwed by RNG (i.e. having a 1:25 PB and racing against someone with a 1:18 PB) so this would be double elimination. If you don't know what that means (lol), everyone starts in the tourney. When somebody loses, they enter the loser's bracket and can still participate. However, if you lose again while in the loser's bracket, you're out for good.

Setup #2

Seeds are assigned by PB time. The lower the seed number is (1 being the best), the better your PB is. If there were 32 entrants, Seed 1 would face Seed 32, Seed 2 would face Seed 31, and so on. This setup would also be double elimination.

Other Rules:

  1. Both runners start on file select and must start at the same time (via a race on SRL or by talking to one another using Skype or Discord).
  2. Mic/commentary is not required, but by all means go for it. Same for talking to your opponent if you so wish.
  3. Should you attempt EYG and happen to softlock, or in the event that you "game over" during the race, this will qualify as DNF (Did Not Finish). This does not mean the other competitor automatically wins. Should you both DNF in the race, you'll do another race until at least one person finishes (so long as you don't game over or anything). The date you do a make up race is up to your discretion, whether or not you do it right after the first race, or a later date. 4.1. Depending on how many rounds there are (if this tourney does become a thing), there'll be a time limit on when you need to schedule your race. For example, all Round 1 races should be done within a week. Same for Round 2 and so on until semi-finals or finals. 4.2. In the event that Competitor A won (A vs B ) and Competitor C won (C vs D) and move on to the second round and face each other, you can do so as soon as you wish, even if still in week 1 of Round 1. 4.3. Should there be a race not completed (E vs F) by the end of the week, they will both be counted as DNF and be sent to loser's bracket. In the event that Competitor E was trying to contact Competitor F all week but they failed to respond, Competitor E will be granted the win by default due to them showing an attempt to progress the tournament.

I'm sure there'll be more in future edits and such, but yeah. If anyone's interested in an any% tourney, say so. If this thread gets nothing, please pretend it didn't exist and I'm not a laughingstock for attempting this. :)

--Edits--

  1. Fixed Setup #2 description cause I'm bad at paying attention to what I write.

Hey everyone. If you're interested in joining the Mario Party Skype Group, send me or P4ntz (or even Fisherman) a message on Twitch. Right now it's small, but we're hoping to grow and improve. The Skype group is to help organize races, events, and/or netplay (drunk or not)! <3

Gotten done with a little bit of any% routing. So far, having difficulty on some routing with getting enough chaos points to unlock Mission 3 (The White Tiger). Will continue routing throughout the week and hopefully finish a run in the next few months!
