So this was discussed int he discord, but for those who haven't joined yet or don't want to. We have added in Click types and Webcam as options for submissions. This way we can sort by whatever we want. I think it's a good compromise for the different ways of clicking people use.
As per request, I've created is a discord channel. It should be easier and faster to discuss things here.
I think coldwater is using mousekeys, because there are brief stutters in the clicking, it's not consistent. But at the same time, he is using a microphone and I think it would pick up any actual clicking noises... But this is a good example of why we need these rules in place.
Here's a link to Mousotron too http://www.blacksunsoftware.com/mousotron.html
I want to come to a general consensus on what forms of clicking we are going to allow before i reject or accept any more runs. there's so many different ways people are trying to get around actual clicking to a point where it's difficult to tell what's auto-clicking and what's not.
Besides actual clicking. Do we want to allow -Keyboard buttons as clicks. -Mouse-wheel clicks.
I personally don't think we should out of sheer difficulty to verify it's a legit run, but also it's kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me to not actually do your own clicking. Thoughts? Arguments? For or against? Let me know what you guys think.
We're kind of up in the air about this right now. And it's sort of being discussed in another topic.
Just got another obvious auto-clicker. Claims to beat previous record by 10 minutes lol
So a recent 1st place claim, which I have determined to be using auto-clicker, has made me consider the need for a new rule. To help combat the use of auto-clickers I think a microphone should be used so clicks are audible. I don't really want it to have to come to this, but it's really the best way i could think of to combat this.
This is the video that makes me want it. The clicks are consistent through the entire video, with no mistakes or fatigue. Also the fact that this guy has never submitted to any cookie clicker category and is claiming first place right away.
Anyway. I'd like to hear some arguments for and against the rule change. Or other ways I can better combat auto-clickers. I'm basically doing all the verifications now.
I'm okay with it. We have a guy who uses keyboard inputs as clicking. The only argument against it I could think of is not everyone can replicate this.
Yeah an older build (1.0466) would have way fewer things to do to reach 100% It would literally shave weeks or months off the run I think. that said, in the old versions Shadow achievements count towards the regular achievement count.
I would assume just follow the pre-click frenzy, 1 million strategy without using gcs?
I'm willing to create the category for you. I would however like for you to complete a run first so I can just get a grasp on how I'm supposed to verify such a long run. I understand this will take a while to complete so just let me know when it's ready.
So I guess we need to decide if I should remove it entirely or add 1.036 to the version list. What do you guys think?
Should I delete it based on the fact it's a version of the game that's unavailable?
I have an old Speedrunslive log of 55 minutes in a 40 achievements race I cant quite remember what version or if there was a holiday active.
So i just tested 1.0466 and shadow achievements do count towards the total achievements in that. So it might be worth it to do it in 1.0466. That said there are fewer achievements to be gained including some of the easy ones like "Here you go" I'm going to try a run tonight to see how it goes.
