Some games track by platform played on, some track by platform of the game. TWW tracks by game platform; i.e. all runs are GCN version, regardless of what it's played on. Other games maybe not so much, but at least for TP and TWW this is how it is.
To clarify:
"Runs Awaiting Verification" shows runs that are pending verification in games you moderate directly. "Pending Actions" shows your pending game requests, your pending runs, and your rejected runs.
There is no bug here.
Without going too much into details (because details aren't super-relevant, the overall view is enough), 2020 has been a busy year. We have what we like to keep the queue at and we internally know the details on that. Even prior to C19 really hitting we had an uptick this year from the start, and then C19 really swung out. More people staying indoors = more people bored = most of those people turn to a new hobby = some of those people pick speedrunning as their hobby. Makes the site much busier as a whole, and it has shown.
We added on two more Content Moderators fairly quickly when it was obvious that there was that need. We still keep our eyes out for people, frankly (we always do, that way if we ever do feel the need to bring someone on...). It's not that easy, though. There is a lot of potential for harm from someone in the position, so we have to have a lot of trust in who we bring on. Looking down the list of applications... the list may be long but the list of quality ones is fairly short.
When it comes to the game request queue, that list is long. We know it, we don't like it, but we're doing what we can to handle it. One of the most obvious issues with the queue that has existed since the start is people that just do not read the game request rules. I cannot begin to count how many requests I personally have rejected for obvious, glaring issues, and there are eleven other current staff members (between Content Moderators and Full Moderators) who do the same. Even if we don't get to catch it for obvious and glaring issues, there are still a not-insignificant amount of requests that get rejected for issues that the person submitting could have avoided if they simply read the game request rules.
Every time we reject a request for obvious and glaring issues (either right away or when we review it normally), that is time we aren't putting to reviewing other, more meaningful requests. This wouldn't be so bad, except a lot of the time, we reject something, fill in the obvious and glaring reason why, and we see it again in the queue a day or two later. Entirely unchanged. So these garbage requests (and yes, I'm going to call them garbage requests), aren't just being handled once. Almost all of them get handled at least twice, and a large majority more than that.
This still hasn't even factored in the requests for games which aren't ones we're taking. Your short, generic itch.io games with stolen assets. That visual novel you insist on speedrunning. A weird 1995 computer game for teaching math. These get seen time and time again, and the people who submit them tend not to take "No" for an answer for several tries.
Add everything up and you get a lot of users who waste our time by submitting garbage requests which bloat the queue. And then you get users who complain about the queue being big - which, spoiler alert: I spent roughly an hour on this post - users who complain about their reject reasons in forum threads (including some users who got rejections for obvious and glaring issues, so yay, more time wasted because not only do they not read the game request rules, they aren't reading the rejection message either), users who complain about "We're not taking X", and then they have to double-down on their complaint sometimes. All of which also wastes staff time handling, because (and we've tried this) ignoring it and doing the work that is necessary is not enough as people will then complain to us via direct contacts that we aren't responding to their thread.
So if you want to know: Yes, the game request queue is big. We'd be doing a lot better at it if we didn't have to deal with so much nonsense. Including this thread.
P.S. I wish this issue of, frankly, garbage requests, was limited to just the game request queue. It's not; shows up in runs to verify which affects the game moderators, shows up in the game request queue, shows up in the moderator request thread, and it shows up in staff applications. Shockingly large amount of people that just do not care, so yes, you can blame your fellow users for being part of the problem.
P.P.S If your friends are that impatient, perhaps speedrunning is not the hobby for them. You need a lot of patience to practice or do countless runs to better yourself at your game.

For GCN, ideally get PAL, though the difference between PAL and USA is incredibly minor (German Language has a few oddities, that's it). Avoid JPN as this version lacks a relevant trick.
For Wii, ideally get USA 1.0 (check the versions for Wii, as there are two versions for the USA region). If not USA 1.0, either PAL or JPN will suffice (PAL is slightly more broken but the differences aren't that useful for runs, that we know of). Avoid USA 1.2 and KOR as these lack a relevant trick.
There are differences between the GCN versions and Wii versions as a whole. Most notably, GCN has Gale LJA and Wii does not. This is a significant factor and why the majority of runs seen are done on GCN versions of the game.
You can play a GCN disc on either a GCN or a Wii that has backwards compat. with GCN games (i.e. not a Wii Mini). Note the rules for homebrew. A Wii disc can be played on either a Wii or a Wii U running in Wii Mode. As with GCN, note the rules for homebrew.

@rki - Not necessarily rejecting this request, however, I am open to adjusting moderation based on this request if I feel the situation warrants it. I enabled "Runs Require Verification" on the board and am going to speak with the moderator (who is active). I would encourage you to also ask the moderator regarding moderation as I likely will not act towards adding you on to the game (only as a last resort, really). As a final note, if we were to reach that last-resort option, you would need to enable MFA and add another form of contact to your profile before I would be able to add you.

@PikAsriel - Adjusted moderation on Tetris N-Blox as this is pending three weeks and the moderator does not have contacts. Did not act on Not Tetris 2 as those runs were submitted today. For Tetris N-Blox, there are other runs in the queue for this game, so please check them.
@Cytruss - User grossly inactive, run pending well over three weeks, handled. There is another run in the queue for the game as well, if you can check that run as well please.

@Maximus - Forwarded this on to other F-Mods. Trying to just clear through these requests nicely before I head out and do a few things IRL and simply do not have the time at the moment for it. There's a lot to unpack here and this seems to be an issue that would not have happened if site staff knew of this back in 2018 when it happened. Anyway. This will get looked into, just not right this second.

@frep - Declined. Your runs are only pending two weeks and there is still a moderator considered active. In addition, your account is not yet a month old. If the situation is unchanged in a week, attempt to contact the moderators (Guilvegane's twitter is active).

Handled. I normally would have asked to see that contact had been attempted, but I checked their contacts and saw nothing that was active by any means of the word. In addition, I would have have removed one of them as they weren't grossly inactive, but considering they'd be 3 months inactive tomorrow I did anyway as one day is highly unlikely to make any significant difference.
You have one run pending that was submitted today. While the moderators are inactive, two of them were on in late February, which isn't grossly inactive. Give them time to come on in case they have notifications enabled. If nothing by Saturday, you should reach out to them on their socials (Crono has an active Twitch and Delta386 an active Twitter).
