I blame the community death on you never doing that Duck Life "Single Activity" run you said you would do... months ago Kappa

August-October last year was really good for the community, if we can just have more consistent runners and participation then it can get really cool again. TBH I just want to be bopped LOL

...or we could hope for another dramatic "illegitimate run" forum post like that one from the guy who used mouse marcos to get a 11:xx Then i'm sure the community will come out of the shadows again OpieOP

Yes the very first running mini-game can be very annoying and hard to do optionally. Which thankfully is why it is at the start of the run. It racks up attempts and dead runs very quickly. An good running training 1 (in two attempts) loses about 10 seconds to a perfect running training so it isn't the end of the world until you go for 13:2X (Even then you could still get a sub 13:20 if the rest is perfect)

Unfortunately the running mini-game is the worst programmed one of the bunch. The best advice I can give for it is to try to get a rhythm. From what I have noticed the rocks seem to be programmed to move just slightly faster whenever the duck is in the air (Probably in hopes to make the game a bit easier by the programmers) So if you prepare for the rock the further away it is then the more likely you are to get in a decent rhythm of your jumps. (This is the most important the higher level you are because the mini-game is a lot faster) Unfortunately there are times where you just get screwed from bad rock RNG and there is nothing that can really be done

And yeah as far as the Running 2 (27,000) goes...as far as i'm concerned it is not possible to do in one go (Unless you have amazing luck and perfect jumps) The running 2 is where the record loses the most time, and probably the hardest part of the run (IMO) Best case scenario is you get 20,000 then 7,000 each attempt. just use the same idea as the previous running and hopefully it will go better.

And for note always remember that the game speeds up a mini-game for every 10 levels achieved (Which is why for flying you always want to gain 10 levels asap) so for the running mini-game, even if you cant do it in one attempt for the 20,000, it is always better to score as much as possible. Best case scenario for running 1 in two attempts is to get 17,000+ and 3,000.

Hope that gives a better understanding of the mini-game, sorry if it doesn't really help.

At the end of the countdown the race takes 20 seconds So if you count the countdown it takes 23 seconds So at the end of the last race before the champ you can usually estimate what time you'll get by adding ~23 seconds

Well I had been speedrunning the game long before the leader-boards were founded. So I always knew the game and how to go fast. But once the new route was found it took me about 2 weeks to get used to it and start throwing out runs. I got a 13:43 as my first real run with the route then the 13:32 like a day after I think. Then I got bopped by like a second and a half and didn't really do runs for a bit.

And it took me about a week or so of grinding to get the record back. My sum of best with the route I used for the record is like 13:05 so it can definitely be improved. I have looked to improving the route recently and I have found a few potential time saves that could theoretically push it to be sub 13, but its hard to test stuff like that when there are so many variables that go into going fast for this game. Actually if you could link a safe download of the game from the official website, I would definitely be willing to look at it.

I'm working on testing in Duck Life 2 currently (Check out the forum or the runs if you're ever bored of this one), but my time being beaten in this one would definitely motivate me to come back.

One of the biggest parts that define the Duck Life 2 speedrun is the "Level upgrade cap system" being removed. This allows for you to train your skills to the maximum before even having to do a single race. The way you access this trick as runners of this game know is to... Beat the game normally Clear your file Boom the level caps are removed

The abuse of this system does not only stop at the removing of the level caps though After you beat the game normally you have access to extra bonuses that can usually only be accessed after beating the game. One of these things is the "Extreme Training" which makes the training sessions very uh...extreme. More importantly the training becomes amazingly fast. If you activate the Extreme training (Or any of the bonuses you get after beating the game) and clear your file...at the start of a new game the extreme training remains active. Playing through the game with the Extreme Training activated results in all the training minigames going exponentially faster than intended. I recently did a fun run with the extreme training activated and got a 20:55. A time that was impossible a week ago. With Extreme Training the run can be below 20 minutes with a good run, which is absolutely insane.

Now here is my side of everything, as the only active runner of this game at the moment. The removing of level caps can only be activated when you beat the game a first time Same with the activation of the Extreme training If we allow the level cap removing in the "Any %" category then I see no reason not to allow the Extreme Training (A real function that is programmed into the game). With all of that in mind I believe that a more appropriate name for the Duck Life 2 "Any%" would be along the lines of "Any%NG+" (Any percent New game plus). Many games have categories like that, which take advantage of a previous file to make a new game go even faster. Which is what we already were doing with the Level Cap removal. With turning "Any %" into "Any%NG+" we would turn the "All Level Upgrades" Category into the regular "Any%" (Which it in reality always was). Any%NG+ would remain the main category and we would still have an Any%

I realize that nobody really runs this game anymore, BUT, I still will wait for feedback on this before I take the action of changing the category names. And after a couple days if nobody says anything then I will continue to go fast and submit the name changes with my 20:55 (Which is a really beatable time) And of course feedback from people who actually would run this game would be most wanted.

The rule (Even before I became moderator of this game) was to only use the listed websites if you check "show rules" on the leader-boards. I personally have always had trouble with the random bursts of lag that come from this game and the other 3 whenever running, but if you check the leader-boards then you'll know that it is still very possible to get a mid 13.

Although, If you get a good time and can prove that using the downloaded version is the way to go then I am perfectly willing to allow downloaded versions of the game :)

Also please look to getting recordings of your runs, the better your times get the harder it will be to verify them without a recording

I beat the Champ every time I tested it at level 80 climbing. It is very consistent and maybe brings some life into this game.

A good new time would be low 23.

Duck Life races would be pretty fun tbh, with Eddie's idea and just the normal any% route.

Races are also a very good and way to get times on leaderboards (Duck Life 3 races anybody? ;D)

My only issue with adding "meme" categories is the question of if anybody will run them.

When we added 100% more than 2 people showed interest, but we only have two times for them and I doubt anybody else has plans to run it. Any% and Any%noSS are still very alive and can be improved upon and more people can still run them. And even 100% can be vastly improved (Which is actually more interesting a run than it seems, you should watch my run and maybe try it...pls lel)

I'm not saying your meme ideas are bad, i'm always interested in ways to play this game fast, if you can record a run and post it in this forum when you do, and if there is enough interest throughout the community then yeah we could add such runs.

But so far there are only two people who would be interested in such things (I include myself lol) and with that few of people interested right now it would probably be best to hold off. And the only other community input I've seen is MeowMix saying "No" (Which was deleted, dunno if he deleted it or if you did)

For games like 3 and 4 where there aren't many times it would probably be best for now to be very lenient with requirements, at least until they get more "popular" (if they ever do). So we could do Video for top 3 times and splits for top 10 for Dl1 and Dl2.

Video for WR in Dl3 and Dl4 splits for everything else. Because anybody can do splits, by taking a picture or submitting to this website.

Then if there is ever a growing competition in Dl3 or 4 we can make the submitting rules more and more strict.

What I mean is a video should be required if you submit a time that is a top three time on the leader-boards. Like in the case of Duck Life if you get a 13:35 then it would be third place, and you would need a video.

Which is basically what your pastebin said.

My issue is like what if we found some new crazy route in Duck Life or any of the other games and a good time would be like sub 13 in Dl1 or a 24 in Dl2 and so on, then we would need to keep updating the "requirements" for a video. If it was always "You need a video if you submit a top 3 time on a leader-board" then we wouldn't need to keep updating the requirements.

Of course the easiest solution would be if everybody just recorded their runs lol. Maybe we could add a link to OBS in the resources, which is probably the easiest and safest screen recorder.

Btw how's that sub 14 going in Duck Life? (:

The act of equipping the color or hat is basically buying it, which is obtaining it. If you watch my Pb in the category you see me simply click each hat and each color, buying them, which is basically "equipping" the color or hat even if for just a second.
