I wondered what's the theoretical minimum races is last place ties in points eliminates all of them. I think it's 4 races. 1st race 12th place is out wit 0 point, no one can tie that. In the 2nd races, if everyone 6th-11th reverses their placements, it's a 6-way tie for 6th at 7 points each. There can't be a 4-way tie for 2nd place after that since the best you could do is two with 22 and two with 23 after Race 2, but then no one can tie for last. However, 3rd to 5th can have a 3-way tie with 30 points each if they have one of each rank for the first three races. After that only 2 are left, and at most 1 can leave then for Race 4. However, the chances of all this aligning right is probably a fraction of a percent.
