People have been submitting speedruns with my name!

Hello, I have never submitted a run, so far, on this site and in any other site, yet people from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" community of this site have been submitting my run, verify them and post them without video! I don't know if it's something that actually happen around the lace but the moderators of the name @FocusSight, @tripl3ag3nt and @Ghastslayer have been submitting runs with my name on the leaderboard. First of it doesn't really seem right to all the others speedrunners, that actually put effort and time in this speedrun, to approve a run without a video. Second, they claim that they have that authorization from the site that goes with the name of www.soniccenter.org, Site that i've never touched or ven looked up since i'm not a sonic fan or interested in speedrunning any sonic game! And even after some analysis on that site, there is nothing that can be associated with my username on this site!

Edit. Also, i want to specify that i have deleted these runs manually, it's just a way to signal this sort of "bug/error/exploit" or whatever thing it is

From https://www.speedrun.com/moderationrules

• The following rules will be strictly enforced: • Do not list a player's runs on a leaderboard if they explicitly do not want it listed. • Do not copy or reupload a player's video without permission from the user. • Do not list a player's username on a leaderboard if they explicitly do not want it listed. • If a player does not want their top time listed, it is acceptable to just not list the top time. It is also acceptable to list a top time with the username "Anonymous" and no video linked. An anonymized reuploaded video may be used only with the explicit permission of the player. • It is generally acceptable to document a top time without contacting the player, unless the individual explicitly requests it not be listed, as described above. • Do not copy other online leaderboards without permission from the owners of those leaderboards.

@dha Ciao!. You are basically telling me that i could report this moderators??

Canada

The way you're phrasing this is a bit confusing, but it sounds like they're putting your name into runs and then it's attaching to your account? If so none of the rules @dha quoted are relevant here. It's almost certainly just a coincidence due to the fact that your name is pretty generic (no offense, I just have to imagine there are a lot of people in various places who chose the username "Zip").

In any case, this isn't a major issue. When this happens just notify the game moderators that the runs were attached to your account by mistake and they can fix it. No need to delete the runs yourself.

@ShikenNuggets The point is that the moderator themself posted these runs and approved them, i also tried to reach out for them 3-4 days ago without any success. the timeline goes like this 1- found this run on the sonic game 2- contact the moderator asking why they did it---- no answers 3- Proceed to delete the run ---- (still no answer after 3 days) 4- Other 2 runs of the same game has been submitted by other moderators and verified by them, all of the runs has no video 5- Contacted the moderators ---- no answer 6- Delete the runs

Moderators can do this. This is not an exploit or a bug, this is a feature. They should have done some due diligence to make sure if it did hook to an account it wasn't just some rando (especially for the generic username) but people don't fully understand how Guest runs work so they may have missed it entirely.
i also tried to reach out for them 3-4 days ago without any success
This is not a very long time. Should have waited longer, but whatever you already went and deleted them so it doesn't matter now.

Just looking at the board, they seem to be adding loads of runs from https://www.soniccenter.org to the srcom board, often 10+ years old and i'm pretty certain they don't have permission from the runners themselves. There also seem to be other false account associations, this one looks particularly likely since it has a generic name, no previous runs and the user hasn't been online in a year: https://www.speedrun.com/sonic06/run/y4e5r1km

Just looking at the run comments, all of the runs on this board seem to come from soniccenter.org: https://www.speedrun.com/sonic06/Wave_Ocean (there are some without a comment but they have the same submission and verify date as the others)

So as the rules state they need the permission of the player, not of a site that previously collected their run, i guess that is a breach of rules?

Canada
So as the rules state they need the permission of the player
Not quite, this is the exact wording of the rules that are applicable here (bold added for emphasis):
Do not list a player's runs on a leaderboard if they explicitly do not want it listed ... It is generally acceptable to document a top time without contacting the player, unless the individual explicitly requests it not be listed, as described above
Anyway, I'll talk to them about the erroneous account linking since I imagine they're just not noticing that at all.

Doesn't your F-shield give you the power to restore deleted runs? Or am I tripping?

SO turns out that there is actually some kind of rule breaking thing.... Mhhh interesting. Yet the mods have replied to me saying that it's just an error or something. This is all

Canada

@EmeraldAly Unfortunately no.

@Zip As I already said, there is no rule breaking. Everything seems to be above board here.

Anyway I'm talking to the moderators to make sure there are no more incorrectly linked runs, and otherwise this matter is resolved. Just gonna go ahead and lock this thread.
