Blitz Breaker in its current state is fairly sturdy given the limitation it places on your movement. With that said, here are a few things to keep in mind while running the game!

Everything listed here is in order of its overall potential to save time.

★ SKIP CUTSCENES ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Story Mode has a number of sequences that act as transition points between stages and boss fights.

Any section you can control the player where no timer is displayed lets you press ESC to cut straight to the first stage of the area. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/c7ARK5L -- Other such examples include the segments spent travelling to a Boss room.

This is a greatly welcomed feature as there are some sequences where they player can get stuck by moving between screens too fast.

★ VICTORY SKIP ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When beating the final stage of an area you have the option to exit back to the menu by pressing 'M' on the keyboard.

Doing this will skip the Victory Cutscene showing your total time, stars and deaths for the area. -- GIF: (SOON)

During a 100% run there are often stages where you need to replay them after collecting the warp piece. Using this method is a great way to go back to a stage after the whole area is done.

★ FALLING WITH STYLE ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Under certain conditions it is faster to blitz downward than it is to let the player fall normally after hitting a wall or ceiling.

When you blitz toward the floor your rebound sends you much higher than the rebound you get by just falling so it's situational. Blitzing down to the ground is generally faster unless you were too close to the ground to begin with. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/7bRoJ2W

If the height of the fall is small enough you can also land without any rebound occurring. This has the potential to save more time than blitzing down, this is most apparent when landing on conveyor belts. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/FBO8ZM1 -- Blitzing down from a large height is generally faster than falling since you will rebound on collision anyway. -- Falling from a small height is slower than blitzing down, but landing without a rebound saves more time than a blitz rebound would.

The importance of Falling with Style becomes much more significant in later stages

★ BLITZ BUFFERING ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After blitzing in any direction, you can press another direction shortly before making contact with a surface.

Doing this will buffer your input and use it immediately on contact with the surface to continue blitzing in the new direction. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/OZRbQl5

This is a great way to escape from missile turrets, skim under narrow spiked areas and stall your vertical position between 2 walls

★ BLITZ BOUNCING ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When standing on the ground, blitz at the floor and rebound upward. This has a slightly different effect than just regular jumping.

When on a conveyor belt, a blitz bounce will force the player straight up instead of continuing in the direction of the conveyor belt. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/m4Ta6vz

Blitzing down to the floor ends up being 1-frame faster than a regular jump when landing. The trade-off is the lack of horizontal movement so this should generally only be used as a safety measure than a jump replacement.

★ BOUNCE CANCELLING (contributed by Dacciox) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When approaching a floor you can cancel the rebound that occurs if you immediate blitz into a wall just before or as soon as you land. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/3H0opNx

This mechanic's effect is amplified further underwater and can save around a second per instance. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/AXhQM9p

★ VAULTING ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a double-edged sword, in some cases it can save time but in many other cases it could unexpectedly throw you off your path.

Vaulting occurs when the player moves horizontally and collides with the corner of a platform. Instead of rebounding off the wall as usual, the player gets pushed above the platform wherever there is free space to proceed. -- GIF: https://imgur.com/CXz4Bv2 -- Being pushed above a platform brings the player to a stand-still, putting them in a position they wouldn't usually be in.

This cancels out instances where the player would have to blitz up, then wait to fall down before being able to clear a small ridge.
