TG-16 exists, is there a difference that the CD is also needed?

Will Wii Virtual Console and Wii U Virtual Console be added to Star Revenge 2: Night of Doom?

Thanks

^ ask the game moderators about that. This thread is to request platforms and regions that are not available to select on the site, so they can be added to games, not to request a specific platform or region that already exists to be added to a game.

Going to provide another bump to this. The compilation post at the top of this page should still be accurate, with the possible exception of TG-16 CD if it's different enough ((I do not know))

The CD-ROM(2) for TG-16 is different - it was an add-on (and then later combined in a duo system). There are certain games that were only released for Turbografx-CD such as Beyond Shadowgate - I had just went with TG-16 for platform but that is inaccurate/due to lack of TG-CD not existing as a platform choice.

Thank you for the clarification. I've added that to the compilation post.

As a rondo of blood runner I gotta give a +1 to the pcengine super cd/ tg-cd, cd-rom(2) whichever of it's 10 names you choose to use.

this is a very true statement xD
however there was more than just pong

Other than a racing game and a breakout clone not sure I see much. Seems like little reason to add a whole console to the site. Easy call for this would be has SRC included any other "pong era" systems where you only had a few games on the system and they were usually a variety of the same game?

So wondering if a seperate category should be added for PS2 games which take advantage of decreased loading times through HDD support (in my case Wild Arms 3 and Alter Code: F). There doesn't seem to be a specific category for other addon systems (Nintendo 64DD) but I may be wrong since I haven't looked into that console specifically. What do the moderators think is the best way for the leaderboard to show that a specific run is using PS2(HDD) instead of just the standard loading from the DVD-ROM. Possibly a subsection within the PS2 category?

@Wipeotjack7 I don't think it needs one, these are just digital wii games. VC is different as its a official emulator, but as a emulator it's not 100% accurate and as such deserves a own platform.

@Soulkilla a community I’m a part of created a separate platform for PS2 with HDD. We treated it as a separate platform and added it as a subcategory for all the main categories (PS2 and PS2 w/ HDD). However this is completely up to the discretion of your community and it’s mods/runners.

The HDD speeds up loading so much that it’s almost a different platform, plus, it’s incredibly hard and expensive to come by since it requires a lot of specific hardware and a startup disc to actually configure the system properly. That is a big barrier of entry in our opinion so we split it out.

The game I’m mentioning https://www.speedrun.com/kh-j

It should also be noted that this is for a game that natively supports PS2 HDD loading. Modifying the console to use the HDD as a homebrew unit to install every game on it and not just the actual supported ones is generally frowned upon and not allowed by a lot of communities since it isn’t supported by Sony.

Actually upon viewing the layout of the RaC UYA page (https://www.speedrun.com/rac3#NG%2B), I think I'll add another column like they have to show DVD-ROM or HDD. I want it to still show up under PS2 and not in another leaderboard like its another Category. Thanks for the insight.

WiiWare I think is different enough personally. Remember that disc loads aren't comparable to digital loads, which is part of the reason I feel it's necessary.

PS2 HDD I'm not sure about - for games that natively support it it should be an option but on the other hand there are games that don't officially support it but people could use it for anyway so I'm not sure on this.

Updated the compilation post.

@Habreno Well at least will be the case for the Wild Arms Alter Code: F, only official HDD support requiring the official Sony HDD is viable and not using the support through the game is not allowed. Now there is the possibility of a ATAD patching modchip coming into play but from what I have heard Wild Arms still will not work without an official Sony HDD.
