Are we allowed to use SNES controllers if we play on an emulator?

Hi! So I was thinking of running Zelda, and was wondering if we use an emulator, could we use an SNES controller for speedrunning the game, and if we could use different controllers for the emulator period. Thanks!

An SNES controller would be fine as long as you're not adding extra bindings to the extra buttons, to give yourself an unfair advantage. Same with other controllers.

Yeah I think a few runners already use SNES controllers, even on NES, with an adapter.
