Average Speed of all Pods (adjusted for boosting)
Updated 5 years ago by kingbeandip

It is possible to calculate the average speed of a pod, even while factoring boosting and cooling. I'll get to the boring details later.

In other words, this guide tells you the average speed of a pod throughout a race if you go full throttle, boost as much as you can, and never underheat. (Obviously this is a theoretical limit, and will not be possible on some tracks or with certain pods.) It does not account for acceleration, dying, hills/terrain, braking, or the length of the track. Keep the difficulty of a track, and your skill, in mind when selecting a pod.

I also made a tool in Excel so you can account for underheating and different upgrade combinations (e.g. 'how fast is Boles with a Plug8 and Dual Coolant Pump on a tight track?'). It also contains the full handling data for each pod and is easier to read than this table. You can download it from the Resources page, or at the following link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuLe1aNbxgMfjddxfb59TqYvxmlKzA

(UpgradedAvgSpeed means all speed and cooling upgrades.) (Lower acceleration is better. Boost and cool times are in seconds.)

Takeaways: We see that when stock Boles Roor is slightly faster than Ben Quadinaros, if you can handle him. But Ben becomes faster with upgrades. Boles is 11% faster than Bullseye stock, and 5% faster after upgrades. Generally, pods with good cooling benefit little from cooling upgrades (e.g. Bullseye and Ebe), and pods with poor cooling benefit greatly from early cooling upgrades (Boles and Ben). See my other guide for details on how speed upgrades work (How the Game Calculates Speed.)

Boring Details:

Average speeds calculated with this formula (both with and without upgrades):

averagespeed = ((totalboostspeed x boosttime) + (basespeed x cooltime))/(cooltime + boosttime)
