Without emulator
Doors can only be skipped on PC versions
You can but the reset will be time loss. As long as you dont go back to the main menu then it's fine.
khomchik submitted a new game easy run which was in the category but i guess he removed it, so whoever verified it also made the category i guess
ben noticed it the other day and told me about it, seems very silly to add it
SeemsGood
Solves the weapon locker RNG + i may be interested in it myself.
IMO though it should probably just be added for Any%
i told myself i wasn't getting involved in this because i haven't cared about this game for like 2 years now but...
@orchlon1 Top runners aren't "gatekeeping" they are seeing the right from the wrong. If new runners can't handle the magnum resets then maybe this isn't the game they should be speedrunning! complaining after such little play time about magnum resets shows they aren't dedicated to the game at all. You're account was made 1 month ago so i guess you fall into that category too ?
so just because non dedicated players can't handle the resets, that means you want a tool that will help you cheat the game so you don't have to put the work in like many others have done for YEARS ? when i ran this game a long time ago i had 19 magnums in a row and that's without basement resets, at that point i put the game down and never touched it again as a speed game because i just wasn't dedicated to the game. RNG is RNG, if you manipulate it to your advantage you are cheating, it doesn't matter what way you look at it. As for this cheat enticing new runners, sure it would entice people that pick up RE3 as their first ever speed game, you know, the people that don't know any better, but people from other communities with RNG heavy games? not a fucking chance. This game would be a laughing stock across all of SRC, 4 minutes is not a big deal to reset at considering other games have resets due to RNG at like 4 HOURS. If you're dedicated enough you'll do it.
-Edit- one more thing, this doesn't deserve a new category unless it's called "Any% - for the less dedicated players"
Adding NG+ under Misc would be a far better solution than cheating.
Didn't bother to read all the posts in this thread most of it is probably irrelevant anyway like every discussion that happens in the RE Series.
if you right click on the livesplit window you should see "compare against" a long with an option to choose "game time" sometimes livesplit will default back to real time so just double check this hasn't happened.
Hi Kopachi and welcome to speedrun.com!
to reset you Press F9 twice and i would recommend watching some runs of Leon A and take some notes, we have a guides section to the left on the side bar that has some useful videos that you should watch too.
English patch does exist, not sure where to get it anymore though. it's banned for speed runs anyway since it's a modification to the game.
this will never happen.
US version is slower and that's pretty much all there is to it. Want to get 1st place/World Record? Japanese version is the only way (or Chinese version if playing re3 i guess)
you can already separate by region using filter options to show only US runs in re1 & re2
at top level re1 & re2 US aren't much different, you just lose time on text.
re3 has an arrange mode leader board which is the US version. So re3 is the only game out of the 3 that you can actually claim a world record for the US version. (unless of course a faster JPN time doesn't exist)
i'm up for commentating rather than running, good idea.
i'm not sure what the 3DS version IGT counts towards the end time but i know all other versions
PC, 360, PS3, WIIU;
IGT counts when you are controlling a character IGT STOPS when you are at a result screen IGT STOPS when you pause the game (even during an episode) IGT STOPS during FMV'S
other versions are 100% accurate if you add up the episode times, 3DS will forever be a mystery most likely but it's a terrible version anyway.
also @StreakOfChaos RE2 IGT is frame based which means if your game lags the timer slows down with it to compensate. Doesn't get more accurate than that.
Looks like he deleted the video, i will remove the run thanks for pointing it out
Easy/Normal Together https://gyazo.com/0643bef1c5006a4ffcdf5abe3b389613
or
Easy Normal Hard https://gyazo.com/13818c2e2512e25f92956f07a9e8b425
looking at them together does seem quite odd so i think maybe having all 3 separate does work as long as some form of competition exists. That is my only concern and a big reason why any board i'm apart of usually doesn't have a middle ground and goes for easiest & hardest instead.
just gonna throw in my 2 cents here since i'm actively learning/running the game
from personal experience in moderating leaderboards having all 3 difficulties (Easy, Normal & Hard) separates the competition way too much, on an already not overly popular speed game. This will just spread people out across 3 difficulties instead of 2
Here is what i suggest https://gyazo.com/563ebe03412c3e118607bbd992fbe610 Easy & Hard as the main categories (you can bundle Normal runs within Easy Mode) so maybe it could be "Easy/Normal" or maybe just keep it as "Easy" with the addition of Normal mode runs being allowed to be place there. i only say bundle them together because there isn't an overly big difference between the 2 difficulties, unlike Hard mode.
Any% NMG rules (my opinion) https://gyazo.com/f2ff85735f02b60b848a299e5ad8d413

Wasn't really sure how to word the ending of the timer but i'm sure you get the point :)
That's my thoughts anyway, i'm Happy with what ever is decided.
@Julian I can hook you up with mod for the umbrela corps board if you want to test stuff. It has an empty full game board
