Hello everyone!
It's been a bit of time since we expressed interest in getting a leaderboard set up and now we have a way to try and bring this to light with a mock leaderboard which we will convert if it gets enough interest in the community. I will be telling you all how to submit to that leaderboard now.
First thing's first we want to have all the modded characters of interest in one place so first check that your character of interest has been submitted here Character Submission and if you don't see them then make sure to submit using this link Submission link
Keep in mind that we REQUIRE the link for the board page where the modded character resides otherwise we will not add them to any leaderboard.
After you've made sure that you have submitted make sure you have this custom gamedata file saved to your SRB2 folder and load it whenever you do a run custom gamedata I am not entirely sure if this is required to be loaded all the time but it doesn't cause any issues if you do this.
Now that you have the custom gamedata you will be able to run the game in Marathon Mode and also Record Attack but you will want to make a copy of your "gamedata.dat" file and rename the copy: custom_gamedata.dat The reason for this change is to make sure you don't have to play through the entirety of the game again to unlock all the levels.
Now that everything is hopefully installed we will have submissions of your run sent to this link Runs and you can submit either a Full Game run which MUST be recorded and MUST be in Marathon Mode (In Game Timer) or you can submit individual levels in which case in the field that says "time" make sure you clarify that it is an Individual Level speedrun. However, the individual level also have a strict rule and MUST be accompanied by a .lmp file. These .lmp files should be saved somewhere like a Google Docs folder and then linked into the submission. If you have multiple lump files then be sure to send them all at once to avoid repeat submissions.
Once you install the mods listed previously and have at least loaded Record Attack as any character you will have a directory that looks like: SRB2 2.2\replay\custom_gamedata This directory will have ".lmp" files in it. You want the file that says "best time" for the run of your choosing (if you have any issues with it then check out this forum post where I explain what the map numbers mean) forum help
Once we have a few additions I will make sure that the submissions have been made visible both here and on the Discord server. If you do want to help with the discussion then make sure to head over to our Discord and make sure to join in on the discussion and ask any questions where necessary.

At the moment we have no plans to import mods to the official leaderboard of SRB2 even if it may fit that slot. There's not really an audience for it which is very similar to why we stopped supporting the archaic versions of SRB2 like final demo and 2.0. The reason SRB1 remake got a spot on the leaderboard in the first place was people demanding it similarly to this claiming there was an audience which there is not. 2.1 of course still has the category and it probably works better there due to the way slopes work (causing some skips when jumping through platforms to gain additional height and whatnot) so even if it was brought out for 2.2 it wouldn't even be inherently faster.
Hello everyone it's been a long time coming but I am pleased to announce that we believe to have a way to get a feasible leaderboard for a large majority of modded characters. The plan will require a lot of invested interest to succeed so we need your help.
Anyone who has wanted to run as a modded character then please fill in our short Google docs form and also join our discord server to stay involved in the action regarding all of this. link
It's crucial that when submitting these characters you also attach the boards that they originated from as we want to be able to link every available character to a credible download link and not some dodgy reupload so make sure when submitting that you have the link to hand.
Thanks everyone and hopefully with enough interest we can get this up and off the ground! We will need a lot more attention though so inform anyone you know who may have wanted to speedrun in the past but couldn't.
Not sure as it's stopped working for me, I can confirm 8 tracks on Ninja kiwi's site and also the wiki but can't seem to find any more info regarding it for the web version.
Hi again, I posted a while back relating to user @Redcat628 and how not present within the community he is, he's also now taken an extended period of inactivity on the site and I, along with the other moderators of https://www.speedrun.com/srb2_sugoi and https://www.speedrun.com/srb2_sugoi_2 agreed that he shouldn't be a moderator there. Despite being not present within the community he would add random categories of runs and never clarify the goal, most simple to explain was a 100% category that we later changed the name and decided a ruling on after being left in the dark waiting on an answer as the game does not have a % counter and these vary per game anyways.
Every attempt at communication has been vague at best and it's honestly not certain to me that anything being communicated is understood even at a surface level. There seems to be a form of a language barrier in the sense of how he doesn't communicate with me or anyone else and is not at all present in our discord (despite actually being in it).
I don't make these posts out of malicious intent I just know it's not a great environment to be in when you have someone there who seemingly refuses to engage with anyone, and even when a run for the before mentioned 100% was left to verify on our boards during a period of activity from himself he still didn't even look at it. I would have no issues if he went away for a while and came back to us and said he wanted to moderate the boards but right now he doesn't seem like he's at all interested in it.

So I'm noticing at the end of the final wave which I end with a Monkey Beacon it seems to not actually show the reward on the usual screen, and I'm not sure what's triggering this glitch as before on web to clear this you'd only have to fire the Beacon again but on Steam it doesn't actually allow you to. Me personally, I think if this happens in a run the run should still be counted as the run technically does end in the same place, the reasons being that Flash is going to be removed from browsers soon so the OG run won't be up any more and I feel, personally, that it hinders the whole idea of tower defence strategies if it is caused by the Monkey Beacon as I feel players should be able to use any combination to beat the game and not be set back by a pointless glitch. But I am free to have my mind changed if someone else thinks differently :)

There's also the unfortunate thoughts about the future of this game as it only works on Flash and this is set in motion to be removed from browsers at the end of the year I believe? So it may be the case that the game will either cease to exist in general or only exist for those who got the mobile versions.
@Daravae Yes I messaged the mod in question, unfortunately for not only me but the other mods of the series the moderator in question is just unresponsive to us which makes it a bit awkward. Obviously it's not anything vindictive it's just obviously helpful to us as moderators to have that participation which doesn't seem to be the case with them and creates such a weird precedent in our community as with every other game we've all just been so open.
Hey, we have a moderator for the games https://www.speedrun.com/srb2_sugoi and https://www.speedrun.com/srb2_sugoi_2 by the name @Redcat628 who is not only inactive from the site but is just not present within the community either. We have a dedicated discord where we discuss all the matters for Sonic Robo Blast 2 and all branches of that and he as the nominated Super Mod from having requested the game has just not changed anything on the site, barely helped with verification and doesn't help in discussion partaking to the game. I do appreciate that the way requested games work this will happen, however I can say with great conviction that he's not present enough in the community to warrant staying on the boards as a Super Mod.
Hi @andy120195 I'm really sorry, this site does not notify us at all when a response is made but assuming you have all emeralds and then complete the game (being taken to the credits) that's all that is required for an all emeralds run.
This is less leaderboard requesting but the page https://www.speedrun.com/srb2kart/ has existed for quite a while now and we've done well to keep it up to date with updates, but we just saw that a series mod with no interaction or verification duplicated this game based off a Google docs sheet and created https://www.speedrun.com/sonic_robo_blast_2_kart
Nothing was ever sent to us mods of the game already about these boards and it was very obvious that it was there from looking on the site. I was just wondering if this duplicated page could be removed and possibly one of the existing moderators of the Srb2 games be made a moderator of the fan game series as well to help protect Sonic Robo Blast 2's boards.
Whilst not on the table just yet don't let it stop you from running modded characters. The biggest issue you could imagine is you can see how cluttered our boards look right now with only 6 characters, but a whole host of modded characters would be quite the trek to get looking nice which is why we encourage it greatly in the discord but can't quite actively support it at the moment. Maybe if SRC introduces some new tools we could incorporate this change :)
Just an oversight on the settings end, it should be displayed as normal for you now.
Sorry that the rules weren't clear, and sorry for not getting back sooner! Only just seen this. Once you get through to the credits then that will be the end of the run, similar to All Emeralds on the main SRB2 game which keeps going until the final boss despite having all the emeralds carried throughout. Hope this answered your question!
