Firstly, moving diagonally makes you move at about 1.1-1.5x the speed of normal single-input moving depending on the incline you are walking on. (MOD NOTE: only until version 0.20)
Second, experiment with different tactics, you may innovate a new, faster, easier or better way of doing something.
Third, watch other people's runs. This may sound obvious, but you may miss some simple tech just because you didn't watch other people's runs. You can combine personal strategy with that of several other runners in order to grab that sweet gold trophy.
