Super Monkey Ball 2 Forum  /  Timer question

Can you use the time you see on the leaderboard or does that timer not take into account certain things such as a paused game, cutscenes, etc.? Wanted to post my first time but I didn’t use a manual timer I just went off the time in-game. Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me! I just got into speed running and this is my first game I’ve tried it out on.

In-game time (IGT) is where I started but real time (RTA) is what is used on the leaderboards.

p.s. speedrun is one word.

Is it relatively the same? Like can I use the IGT? What discrepancies are there compared to RTA in super monkey ball 2, specifically?

IGT is not consistent or accurate enough compared to RTA to officially use, I've seen as much as a one minute difference compared to RTA. I'm pretty sure IGT keeps counting for the credits, every cutscene and until it shows the gumball machine thing. I also think it also stops during loads. Since it makes more sense for timing to end when you break the goal tape on the last level, RTA is what is used.

Yeah don't use IGT because mainly it starts counting when you start naming the file, so you can probably see where that's a no-go, also what Friks said. Just never use IGT, that's pretty much the bottom line
