Question about setup

Hello guys, I have a question about the setup for speedruning SM. As of now i run it on the Switch Online version and although it is the NTSC version of the game I am noticing some differences that I would like to get rid of by changing the hardware to the original SNES. The problem? Well I live in Europe and most of the consoles (and cartridges) sold around are PAL, so by doing some research I found the everdrive solution (specificaly the Super EverDrive X5, since SD2SNES costs a lot) and I was wondering if that would work on a PAL console with NTSC Rom?

Has anyone tested this and can confirm that it works prefomance wise?

if you put a NTSC rom into a PAL console it will run at 50 FPS, likewise a PAL rom in a NTSC console will run at 60 FPS and in the case of SM PAL on NTSC is faster due to the change of physics they made to try to compensate for the 50 FPS of PAL and also not allowed for any category (except for PAL on NTSC category)

Thank you for the reply. I was left with the impression that this type of cartridges negate the region restrictions of the console and you can play whatever version of the game you want natievly, what am I missing? My TV is multiregional and can support both NTSC and PAL so that is not an issue.

The problem isn't region restrictions, the problem is the literal speed at which the console runs the game. Even without restrictions, a PAL console would run the NTSC version of the game at 50fps, and the game would run at 83% speed.

There is a hardware mod you can do to make a PAL console run NTSC games at 60fps like normal, but I don't know the details.

Thank you for the reply, I would just order NTSC console and cartridge from ebay then.
