The question here is simple: would you be interested in having individual level boards for each level? I personally believe there would be some merit to that, the same way there is merit in Punch-Out, for instance, to have IL boards for each boxer.

So yay, or nay?

I think that would be fun!, we can even use the accumulated data to see what "The perfect run" would look like. lol

I think it's a great idea. The more ways there are to run a game, the better. I'm also curious to add up the best individual board runs and see how they would compare to the 100% WR.

When I did my most recent TAS for Any%, I calculated the minimum possible "throws" required to complete the run. While I never gave it the time to fully manipulate a run to that extent, my "theoretical" TAS minimum time for 100% (Easy) was in the 4:24 range, based entirely on the "fastest possible throw and return" multiplied by the "minimum number of throws" to defeat the toughest member of each team not named Swami.

The IL leaderboards are in, people! Enjoy!

General rules for ILs are:

- Video must include last reset, and the run up until the intended stage is cleared.
- Milliseconds must be included in timing.
- Time starts on the first frame when movement is allowed on the intended stage.
- Time ends on the frame on which your opponents' last health mark disappears from the top HUD.

so I saw the boards go up and got excited to fill em up lol, I only used my last 2 PB's but it did include several of my golds. I was just thinking afterwards tho, do you have to manually verify each of these MarthSR? If so, would it be easier for you if we cut the video down so it doesn't include the entire run and just the stage we're submitting for? I imagine it could be a lot of work if that's the case.

Yes, we have to verify them all, but there is a reason why we need the entire footage: we need to see that it was done from a reset.

With a cut out video, there is nothing indicating that the run wouldn't have been started from a save state.

yeah I kinda answered my own question when I re-read the rules and the Reset line. also, sorry about messing up all my level submissions, I just recently learned how to do the frame counting and I messed it all up

No worries, I redid the count on my end.

This tool is great for YT videos: https://slashinfty.github.io/yt-frame-timer/

I was just wondering, what frames we should use when timing the runs. I have been using the first frame I see Randy move (whoever is in front) and the frame where all the PEZ is gone. I know the mods will re-time it but I keep getting it wrong and it's annoying me lol.

First frame is the first frame of movement after "DUN DU-DUN, DU-DU-DU-DUN, DU-DUUUUUUUN!".

Last frame is when your opponent's last energy bar disappears on the top HUD.

So just to clarify: it seems like the easiest way to do later stages is to record a full run, then use that tool you posted to figure out each individual stage time? I upload to Youtube so that sounds perfect, since each sub-split is cumulative and inaccurate beyond All-Stars.

@HowDoUPlayHowDoUPlay

That's certainly a way to do it. We only require to see the entire run up until the stage the submission is for, just to be sure there's a proper reset, and a reasonable effort to time the run between the stage's start fanfare and the last hit on your last opponent.

We also accept stage grind attempts, so long as the run also includes the last reset up to that point.

Good to know, thanks! One follow-up question regarding your last sentence: is there any way to grind a stage repeatedly, such as USSR/Shadow, without having to reset the game? The only ways I can think of are save states (which aren't allowed of course), or purposely losing?

I haven't actually tried intentionally losing, but on Easy that could take some time.

I've been completing otherwise "PB dead" runs much, much more frequently as a result of this, just for chances at the later stages. It's the only way to actually "grind" them, if you will. With the new leaderboards, no run is truly dead until you miss Shadow Sam the first time.

Hi Marth, just for clarification, the first frame to use is the first frame we see characters move, not the frame right before that, when we are presumably gaining control?

We've come up with another Level Category we'd like to have added to the list.

Basically "Any% Russia", where we have to have a team member die before finishing the stage. Since three core categories have to do this, it seems fair for it to have it's own board. I'd also, personally, like to see what people come up with for it!
