Hi! I've got a category question.
Years ago I saw a YouTube speedrun tutorial by KingdomCarts for this game. His route involved Kazakh for disk 2 -> Egypt for key 2 -> Kazakh for disk 3 -> Japan for disk 4 -> China for the magnet boots -> Australia for this [] -> Red Dragon. This route's cool, it shows off most of the game, but it does have a glitch in the form of OoB.
Unless I'm mistaken, OoB isn't a zip, though. Would a run with the above glitch in it be considered a zipless run? If so, I could probably get a 25:00 or lower using death abuse. If it counts as a zip though, this route is basically dead.
I would pm coolkid on twitch and see what he says. I consider him to be the authority on NES Strider. If using the Australia door trick is a valid tactic then that route is still dead you can just get disc 2 in kaz, death abuse, go to Australia and finally Red Dragon shaving off a lot of pointless trips in that guys route.
