Hi there, I want to get into the world of speedrunning for a while now but OBS continues to not work for me. It doesn't matter what I'm recording (Game, Display, etc), it records it, but it is very slow, the audio is perfect, but the frames are so slow and it skips around 85% of the frames and just pauses on the ones it doesn't skip. I don't know what causes this but I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I am on a Laptop without much power, and that it can't handle much at all. Any advice?

Start by checking your video and output settings on OBS.
The higher the canvas and output resolutions, and the higher the video bitrate - the better the video quality will be, but it will take much more processing power.
Try some combinations of them - Video bitrate of 1500-2000 Kbps at minimum should have decent quality, and in terms of resolution, you don't have to record on 1920x1080.

Little correction on the above, do what he said. however video bitrate doesn't affect this.
