So, lately I've been feeling like I might want to try a 117% run of this game again sometime, however, last time I tried to, this happened:

Is it a known glitch that the game can freeze there and something I should keep in mind to prevent it from happening, or is it more likely a problem with my disk in which case I would have to try to get another one? To be clear, I don't have a consistent problem with the game freezing there, I've done runs of other categories where I got through that level just fine, and a casual 117% playthrough where it didn't happen, it just happened that one time.

Yeah this is known about. Icy Peak has a tendency to crash while using the cannons. Best way to avoid it is to take it slowly, if you shoot things too quickly one after another the game can freeze like that. Doesn't happen all the time, but just to be safe probably take it a little slower than normal. :)

For some reason the game doesn't think you can shoot things that quickly after another. You're going too fast for a speedrun :)

All right, thanks, now that I know I don't need a new disk, I can try actually planning to do another run, whenever I have all day again :P

Well, in my first attempt to play this game since that crashed, I decided I'd play some nice simple 100 Egg, then this happened...

Is this a known crash too? And if so, is there a list of known crashes so I can try to avoid them? >.>

This game generally doesn't like particles, and what's causing the crashes is pretty much a particle overload, those two crashes that's been listen are about the most common ones, but you can crash in Haunted Tomb aswell, in the sections where the boulders are falling.

However (as far as I'm aware) this can only happen in 117% speedruns, if you have the last Sparx ability.
