I have submitted for banned from equestria to be a speedrun 2 times now, and both have been rejected? I understand its a porn game, but I was rejected the game is not "notable" enough.
(also I know its a porn game, but porn games have been ran before in the past this is not a exception)
first of all, what does this statement mean? does my game not being "known" mean it is not a game that can be legitimately speed-ran?
second of all, I understand the speedrun can be pretty quick, I clocked in 3:59 seconds on the best ending, and at :59 s for the any% and I have been rejected because the game is too short? I have seen speedruns for games that have been less than 10 seconds, and my game is too short and not notorious to make it on this website?
third of all, I understand its a flash game, but there are many flash games that have been speedran.
fourth of all, I am not the only one who has ran this game, you can go on youtube and find MULTIPLE different runs for this game, so since im not the only person running this game, that means It is known enough to make it on this website
The fact that my game has not made it onto speedrun.com for these arbitrary reasons, is ludicrous and I think that my game DESERVES a spot on speedrun.com
And if anyone is curious about getting started running this game, join my discord server where we are starting discussion for this game https://discord.gg/etTRg9g

Refer to detailed game request rules: https://www.speedrun.com/gamerequestrules
There are two issues with your game as you said, not being "notable" and also being a porn game.

From the rules, this answers the question pretty well:

Quote

NSFW content - Current site precedent is to not accept games built around NSFW content. If it's worse than an "R" rated movie or an "M" rated game, we probably don't want to track it. This may include certain taboo topics of a sexual nature and games that need patched to remove inappropriate content. We may find better ways to isolate this content in the future, but for now we definitely do not want to expose users to these types of games.

Another issue, depends on where the runners upload their videos, if they want to upload to YouTube or Twitch they will have to massively edit the video in order to cover the several "problematic" scenes. Editing videos of speedruns in such way is a highly suspicious action (regarding only the speedrun itself) because who knows what else you might edit in the video. Runners can theoretically upload their runs to adult sites, but the general consensus from a similar thread show that we really don't want that around here.

Also, if we put that aside for a moment, regarding the second issue:

Quote

Game types such as rom hacks, mods, mobile games, webgames, gamejolt, itch.io, and steam games will be held to some level of scrutiny.
• The game should have a reasonable length such as 5 minutes or longer.
• The game should show that a reasonable level of effort has been put into development from a functionality standpoint.
• The game should have been played by a reasonably large number of people.
• The gameplay should show some potential for optimization through speedrunning.

I watched a "speedrun" of this game, the "gameplay" can be boiled down to net time of clicking around for about only 30 seconds, the rest are cutscenes. Sure, this is the premise of point-and-click games, but there is really no real content in this case.
Flash games are also taken to a higher regard because of the abundance of bad flash games around the net.

And for your other complaints: the rules have changed over the years, but are never applied retroactively.
So, many flash games or short games which were accepted before, might not be accepted today.

Also, the fact that other people have run this game doesn't matter in that case.

Edit: I guess your username doesn't help either.

I see speedrun.com is not my website then. I will have to go elsewhere. thank you

  horny4pony69horny4pony69

ok so, I slept on it, woke up, went to work, and now I just got home from work. and I realized you're full of shit oreo321.
While my game being porn is true, even though there are porn games that are speedran so thats not a real point. it would impact streaming the game however but, the act of censoring the speedrun is not a real issue, as the mouse cursor can be seen during a run at all times, and explicitly implies that the run has not been glitched/cheated. the only real issue I can see is if someone were to have an autoclicker, but there would be work arounds for that as well.
second of all, you have the audacity to tell me that my game is simply a game of "clicking around for 30 seconds" when I have watched your speedruns, not only do you run non-interesting flash games, but a lot of them you are the only one who has submit runs on. also, short/non intensive speedruns do exist on this website, as the clue (1998) speedrun is literally less than a second.

Also you aren't even a mod, I thought you were as I had stayed up too late past my bedtime and couldn't tell yet

They are a mod tho

a moderator of 9 games, not the website

Ah...

" you're full of shit"
Starting off with harsh words there. Take it down a notch.

"even though there are porn games that are speedran"
Source?

"as the mouse cursor can be seen during a run at all times, and explicitly implies that the run has not been glitched/cheated"
cough Splicing cough

"non-interesting flash games"
Excessive generalization here.

"a lot of them you are the only one who has submit runs on"
Your point?

" short/non intensive speedruns do exist on this website"
See the point made previously that the rules for submission acceptance have changed and were not applied retroactively.

"Also you aren't even a mod, I thought you were as I had stayed up too late past my bedtime and couldn't tell yet"
What does this have to do with anything? I'd be willing to bet any of the site mods would say 90% the same thing.

Ah yes, you sure showed me.

Look, I don't make the rules around here, I'm just told what are they. You did ask why your game got rejected, after all, and I gave an explanation. That explanation is based on the SITE RULES, and after a lot of similar threads ("why my game is rejected" and stuff) you can get a general feeling of whether a game have a chance to be accepted to the site, or not at all.

About my "audacity" - yes, I told you that you have 30 seconds of gameplay in your game, because that is the reality. No point in lying or sugar-coating it. I also really don't know what is your point of personally attacking me or my speedruns, except for trying to call for whataboutism - "your games are bad, so you have no right to say other games are bad".
As I said, many games will not be accepted to the site today, and that includes some of the games I moderate - that is the truth of it and I admit it. And do you really accuse me of being the only runner in some of those games (like maybe 90% games on the site)? I don't really have much say in this matter.

"Non-interesting flash games" is also super subjective.

I also never said I was a site mod, those you can recognize quite easily with their icons.

Please keep the conversation civilized.

I understand I started harsh, and thats my fault im getting a little too heated over a my little pony porn flash game I will admit
but you must understand I see no reason as to why my game has been rejected when there are many other games on this website that are worse

if you want an easy answer for the porn game question, hunniepop, the game has to be censored and you can find runs that link to pornhub or are hosted on a google drive.

about the splicing, any game can be spliced, and there have been runs that have been approved that have been spliced not a real argument.

in regards to the non interesteing flash game, that was a point that was brought up before, and I probably should've just said everyones views on things can be different, and something that is interesting to someone else can be boring to the other. my game was rejected for being "short/generic and not a notable game" that statement in itself makes no sense for the reasons ive stated above

And as for me pointing out his runs that have no other submissions, if my game is so uninteresting, then how about his games that dont even have other people running it

also if the website was serious about these games that "don't collide with the rules" then why do they get to remain on the website while my game cannot? it makes no sense

and as for the mod answer, I thought he was a mod simple as.

My game DESERVES to be on speedrun.com

I am saying you have no room to shit on my game, to say it's only "30 seconds of gameplay" is a harsh understatement
you don't understand the complexities behind my run and I wouldnt expect you to, seeing the "games" you run.

go be #1 in your 7 games in which you're the only person who has submitted a run.

  horny4pony69horny4pony69

Asombroso, I have said huniepop 3 times now

  horny4pony69horny4pony69

so you're just going to brush off my reply, which shows you don't know about the complexities behind my run, and instead of refuting me, you choose to laugh at me.
truly you are the weaker mind @Oreo321Oreo321

"I see no reason as to why my game has been rejected when there are many other games on this website that are worse"
" if the website was serious about these games that "don't collide with the rules" then why do they get to remain on the website while my game cannot?"
What are you missing about the "changed rules were not applied retroactively" thing?

"about the splicing, any game can be spliced, and there have been runs that have been approved that have been spliced not a real argument."
No, this is an argument. Because this means that mouse being visible at all times isn't proof of the run not being edited.

"that statement in itself makes no sense for the reasons ive stated above"
I'm missing which reasons you gave against this statement.

"if my game is so uninteresting, then how about his games that dont even have other people running it"
Uninteresting is a matter of the content of the game, not popularity of the game. Someone could create the greatest game in the world, but if only one person hears about it and runs it, does that make it uninteresting?

Also, even ignoring the "not notable" part, you're still ignoring that there's rules against NSFW games which you never argued against. Now if you're really that desperate for it to be on the site, go to the feedback thread and argue for a rule change, or submit it again and make a better argument in the submission. And if you get rejected, you're more than welcome to create a google doc with the other runners and make your own leaderboard that way.

Well maybe you don't understand the complexities behind the games Oreo runs. Especially the several I've played that I know are very challenging. Check yourself.

Edit: There you go. You heard it from a site mod. Is that enough for you?

  horny4pony69horny4pony69

Lieutenant_Boo I really might, I have no idea how to actually contact the website admins, im trying to see if I can talk to someone to get it on the website because, like i've stated before, I see no reason how my game is not on the website. I don't think the admins are using their brains

If it is a porn game it is not going to be accepted regardless.

That said, if you want to take this further DM a site moderator. Locking this.
