Is there a Glitchless Category and I'm just not seeing it for some reason? I like to play my sonic games Glitchless so I was just wondering if I'm being dumb and not seeing it.

There isn't one atm, since existing runners haven't really shown interest in one. You're welcome to submit glitchless runs to the Any% boards of course.

in the same breath, wouldn't it be better to have a whole glitchless category for individual levels? for any WR you need to do speed glitches which really should have its own category, its very unrewarding grinding for a time you'll never beat without the use of speed glitches.

For individual levels we already have a variable that indicates if the runner used speed glitches (M/D-speed mostly) or not, so you can filter the leaderboard by them.
In most of the stages/challenges the difference isn't massive enough to have a separated leaderboard, on top of the fact that the current leaderboards aren't very active to begin with.

I say this about every game but if you run a game glitchless aren't you just playing the game in 1 sitting but trying to make that sitting as quick as possible.. while Speedrunning with Glitches feels like Speedrunning especially when you watch a runner go Out of Bounds or something. It really puts you in shock and makes you go "Wow this guy's good"

Personally just my opinion but I also feel like 90% of the people who ask for Glitchless are just Lazy or they think that the Glitches are too hard (in generations case, that's fair)

Yeah I get what ur saying. I Speedrun ratchet and clank with glitches and it's not that I can't preform glitches in generations but rather I find it more rewarding to beat the game as fast as you can in the intended way for sonic games

Since Sonic is based around going fast and beating the levels as fast as possible I get a better sense of accomplishment finishing them the fastest without glitches compared to other games where glitches are required to beat a level in a fast amount of time

No, I don't think glitchrunning is what qualifies something as speedrunning. That's the first time I've heard something like that. I'm also not against using glitches in speedruns, but I think I am against putting a qualifier on if something counts as a speedrun, like that. I definitely go out of bounds in the second level of Dreamcast Ecco The Dolphin to skip the boring levels in the beginning. And the first level of the third chapter...but even Dreamcast Ecco has a glitchless full game submission board. (As you said, it's based on runner interest)

I also don't think Sonic games are normal speed games in the sense that both the glitchless speedruns, and any % speedruns involve heavy technical tricks and complex routing that transform either playthroughs from "just playing the game" to speedrunning them - there's a big big difference.

Like here I have five glitchless speedruns, where all five involve complex tech tricks and creative routing to achieve the times they do. Am I just playing the game, or am I speedrunning? O.o
You may think I mashed a spindash out, but that was a 4 tap with pianoing, or when I open the stage with a two tap spindash, you may not realize it was for timing so the cycle would be correct. When I stutter land on the top of a launcher instead of instantly riding it, it wastes a quarter of a second, and that's to make it sure I am on the edge of the V-spin platform and not in the middle of it (which would mean I need to restart the run).
There's so many little things like that involved in all speedrunning, glitched or glitchless, but especially glitchless.

So, biased clearly, personally, I would hope and love if Glitchless were to be a Category Extension so that Any %, All Modern Stages, and All Classic Stages could be listed there. I'd love to be shocked by the times and runs players achieve in Glitchless. Glitchless shows us what a game can be like played at the highest skill level "without Game Genie" basically.
I used to run this game glitchless, but never cared to submit anything or even record my stuff because it seemed like there was no interest in such things. I had a bunch of 1st place times on the leaderboards back when the game came out, before everyone figured out how to submit 0 second times and then naturally my interest fell off.

I'm too old to try and change the culture anywhere, you guys do you. This is just my two cents.

Maybe if It was a category extension that would be ok...
