Sirena Beach Episode 6 new glitch ? (NO DOLPHIN - Switch)

I was playing SMS through the 3D All Stars collection when something strange happened. I launched episode 6 of Sirena Beach (the « cleaning the beach » one), and, you know, I’m playing this game since I’m 5, so I knew something was wrong when the timer stopped. Because the beach wasn’t totally cleaned at all.

The first time, i was quite mindfucked, because in 18 years I didn’t saw something like that. Something like 20% of the beach wasn‘t clean, and after a little thought I’ve been thinking about the speedrun community, since I am a huge fan of speedrunning in general (and also I’m trying speedrunning various games for my personnal pleasure). So I tried to redo it, and i finally succeed by trying to recreate the conditions of the first time (same path, same actions).

I don’t know if this glitch is known, I didn’t find anything about it. I don’t know if it could be useful for speedruns either. But it saved me a few seconds.

UPDATE : just saw that the level can be completed by cleaning the central area, i didn't knew that, it could be just this, but it seems strange to me because the central area isn't clean at all... Maybe it was nothing?

This has been happening to a lot of people on the Switch version, idk if anyone really knows why and how it works exactly. I know it used to happen on Dolphin You can see a bunch of clips here https://pastebin.com/QQ5Ekysg

as far as it go super mario sunshine switch is a port. which is basically a emulation. (or atleast they're both very similar) on dolphin. you could clean only one tent and the timer would stop and you'd get the shine easily. because dolphin had problems with values storage. I'd assume this is the case with super mario 3d all star version of super mario sunshine. my knowledge about emulation storing variables isn't that much better than anyone else in this forum. so i'll avoid going into details. but to make it simple. super mario 3d all star version of super mario sunshine seem to store variables differently. it's more like a emulator. than a console storing. glitches like this are common for emulation. atleast it's not entierely game breaking.

It’s totally broken. I just got a 2:57:90 (unintentionally).

Okay yeah now that's kinda broken, so With glitches And Faster load etc. Super mario 3d all star version of sunshine is faster... Weird.
