I'd love to start speedrunning this title, but I'm always put off by rng manip in these situations.
I've noticed that titles like Earthbound and Final Fantasy have active any% non-manip categories, yet through google searches I haven't found any interest in one for SMRPG.
Is there an inherent reason why non-manip isn't considered for this game? Would it be possible to request the category upon submission of a complete run?

RNG manipulation is not needed to complete a speedrun of SMRPG. In fact, just getting lucky and not using manipulation is always faster than using it. The times would be so similar that a leaderboard split does not make sense in this case. There are only a few places where manipulation is used, so the admin team doesn't feel that a leaderboard split is necessary at this time. If you were to complete a non-manipulated run, it would go on the main any% leaderboard.

There is a lot more to this game than manipulation, which currently occurs in only two places in the run. One of them is incredibly easy to learn/execute. Check the wiki for the beginner's guide on how to get started.

Thank you for the reply. I had started reading on the manip strats and assumed they ran through a large chunk of the run, clearly I should have spent more time researching. Thank you once again.
