How about Any% Glitchless, basically because there are so many glitches that skip several segments of the game (aside from completing the kingdom before getting the Multi-Moon) that could in total save over 40 minutes?

That sounds interesting. Would the Moon Cave and Dino skips count as glitches?

Germany

There are barely any timesaves from glitches in the Any% speedrun. The 1.3 update (which made the game faster than the more glitchable 1.0 version) removed Sphynx Clip, First Moon Skip, and Turnip Clip from the game. Currently, glitches are probably saving around 30 seconds in the whole run, which doesn't warrant its own category (this is assuming that Moon Cave Skip is not considered a glitch). You could grind all the way to subhour without ever using glitches.

However, there is a speedrun category of World Peace that bans all sequence breaks in the kingdoms' story, and thus effectively provides a run without major glitches. It is called "All Story Moons". You can run All Story Moons competitively without ever using glitches.

An idea, since you brought up the Moon Cave, could be "All Bosses No Postgame", where you have to beat all explicit bossfights and also kill Klepto. It would also come closer to "Glitchless" than World Peace does. Maybe if several runs of that are performed, it could become a consideration

Rules Beat the game without using skips of any kind. Timing starts when selecting start on the Start Game screen and ends when bowser blasts out of the moon cave. You can not use any of these skips: Early Madame Brood, First Moon Skip 1.3 version, Jaxi skip, Flower bridge skip, Klepto skip, Moon cave skip. DLC is not allowed, as well as balloon world, besides, the game doesn't even show up until after you beat the game. You must do it on version 1.0.1 or later. Amibo are not allowed.

Just to clarify, by "Early Madame Broode", do you mean Dino Skip? And by "First Moon Skip 1.3 version" do you mean DSS?

Yes. I have cool names for them.

Sound interesting the idea of glitchless But, in respect of the skipless, that we should have to decide what count as a skip, but it can be very nice @IwerSonsch and by the way, just 30 seconds? Well, I beat you Mitch actualy cant beat the game glitchless in 59:03 or lower; I should say are realy more tan 30 seconds, think that realy there are many glitchess, like the lake one, the wooded one, the beach one… @SuperMarioGuy4 well, the moon cave skip basicaly is an extreme jump based on the posibilities and the hitboxes of the game, and its part of the game to the dino can jump as high to reach where the hitbox do to the figth start, so well, "glitch"; glitch, are not, so f

We will have to provide a clear definition of what a skip is. Here's my suggestion:

  • Accessing areas, moons, or loading zones that are behind an event that is clearly on the intended path to that area
  • Events include moons, cutscenes, loading zones, bosses, paintings, pipes, stationary captures such as zippers and chain chomps, switches, and levers

Examples:

  • Skipping the Zipper to the tunnel in Lake (which leads to the main area of Lake)
  • Skipping the chain chomp and the pipe to the "Atop a High Cliff" moon in Cascade
  • Skipping the loading zone to the Moon cave (which leads to the cathedral area of Moon)
  • Skipping the frog capture cutscene in Cap
  • Using nut clip to skip the lever at the tunnel in Wooded

You ARE allowed to end cutscenes early by pressing "Skip", but you're not allowed to bypass them entirely if you access things behind them

honestly this just feels like any% for people who don't want to learn the hard tricks.

Well, many times, I wish people would learn to do things the hard way.

@OddPandemonium Banning skips would not make the run easier, as the tunnel in Lake, the cave in Moon, and the Klepto fight are quite a bit harder to master than the respective skips. This is moreso to add more variety in categories

Okey, so it seems like nice

One things for sure @IwerSonsch, I've seen many games with categories where skips are not allowed. E.g. Zelda links awakening remake, Kirby's adventure, Pokémon Generation 1, just to name a few.

I don't see a reason to respond to this thread a month after it was last posted on...

Anyway, if you want the category, you should probably submit it to the form
