god% sounds like a bad category as its just any% then do a different thing.

toadette% would suck due to requiring 800 moons - at which point its nearly aum

hint art% - literally dark side but with some moons afterwards that would require multiple kingdom visits

hint art% 2 - just as annoying

balloon world% - online won't exist forever and is susceptible to exploits

balloon world max% - same problems as above but more so

vr% - switch cannot be recorded in VR mode with a capture card

cat mario/peach/rosalina% - hard to track and verify, also likely not interesting

all costumes - just coin grinding + most purple coins and i believe you need near to 500 moons to unlock most outfits...

all help signs - hard to track and i can't imagine it'd be that interesting.

as a general note. mods don't add categories unless you have a run first - which is why all flags RTA exists - someone actually did a run.

To follow up with frozen, this keeps these type of posts more organized and gives us a reason not to delete, which is how forums should be. The categories addressed will never been seen the same for most people and instead of writing down what you want, try to think of categories other people may want. The original post has so many arbitrary rta categories (captain toad, cat mario, etc.) that they are very fond of though other people may not be, I can't see these gaining traction. I still believe one should only post suggestions that actually have a chance (if you know the game well and have a creative idea, you will know if it can possibly do well), if you're posting a category just for "fun" (coins/balloon world) I would recommend that in the discord server.

Maybe some of this case are very arbitrary, yeah, but there are some cool categories which arent bad idea to do it maybe

The one more I think always is "All Achievments", its nice the idea of to have to get all the achievments of the game as fast as posible; If we think well, thats a bit like a mid point into "Darker Side" and "100%", but with a bit special condition that sound nice to do it Only as a stupid opinion of a no-profesional runnes, sound nice, and its very tipical an "All Achievments" category, so I think would be a Good idea to add it

@Tech to start, with that of "if you're posting a category just for "fun"", literaly if we do speedruns of this game is because we like to do it and to have fun, if you dont have fun playing it just dont play it pls, so I dont understand what do you mean with that of dont give category ideas in this forum if is just to have fun, so, what do you mean? The only reason I imagine to run this game without have fun is to win money with the stream and videos you do it of this type, and, being realistic, other games would give you much more many to play it than Super Mario Odyssey, sorry but as well

To continue, just my opinion, I doenst think "Captain Toad%" as a PostGame speedrun is an "arbitrary category" to run it, to get as fast as posible all the moons of all the captain toads of all the worlds (is the same but in different times yeah I know okey? lol), is not stupid; in fine, think that no all the location of Captain toad are putted beside the Odyssey or beside another checkpoint of the world, the only one would be almost nothing to in the kingdom would be the one of the moon :)

Indeed, those two in particular would be the closest to being worth considering.

All Achievements requires you to get 540 of the 819 non-achievement moons, not 800, so it would still be quite different from AUM. With duplicate moons allowed, you would likely collect only 451 or 461 unique moons which would add unique steps onto the spacing of Any% - Dark Side - Dark Side no revisits - Darker Side with dupes - Darker Side - All Achievements with dupes - All Achievements - All Moons. The biggest reasons not to run it would probably be the jump and cap throw farming that are already annoying in All Moons.

All Captain Toad Moons NG+ is similar (though a bit more arbitrary) to a category that used to exist, but was unpopular due to a bad refining of the teleport ruleset (All Peach Moons) and eventually got scrapped. A better ruleset for categories of this style has been established in the more successful All Postgame Flags. The biggest reason not to run it would probably be the fact that it is more arbitrary than All Peach Moons would have been with the better teleport rule.

All Peach Moons was added then removed all in less than a month, It is the same concept with Captain Toad and I don't believe it would be considered. All Achievements is already pretty convoluted idea in itself, would there be people who are willing to do more than just a one and done, it very much resembles that of a one and done category, which we tend to remove those. @KilleDragon You read that wrong, I am not attacking how people are running the game, I don't see how you see my message like that. "fun" categories involve a player's imagination to create such categories, they think in their mind the category is good and fun to them, so they post it, sometimes without much knowledge (no testing, no actual run which is what we've always recommend to do before posting about it, etc.) but the category may not be the same to others (usually you see a lot of responses such as "this seems like a bad idea" or "the problem with this category is..."). This is shown in a lot of concepts that have been previously mentioned in these type of posts which led us to making the post that chilled the constant creation of these type of threads down. Not everyone will understand how to perceive each others ideas, you want to look at the negatives before the positives, that way you don't receive criticism towards your idea and you will know if the thread is even worth making. This is why I also prefer these type of category ideas to be shared in the discord server, to understand one's category better, extensive discussion is best in there and not here. We recommend people to seriously do a run of what they want to present, this benefits everyone.

None of the categories listed will be added because most of them are do x category but also y. That does not provide an interesting run that many people will run.
