Cheap capture card?

I would really like to start running SMO, but I do not own a capture card. I have about $50-$75 to spend on a capture card, and I would like to know which one is the best option for my price range.

New Jersey, USA

GV-USB2

It will have horrible quality but that's the best inside your price range that's a good capture card, unless you want to find a used Elgato or Avermedia someone's selling on Ebay or Amazon

What do you mean by horrible quality? Because all I need for a capture card is being able to see that Mario is on the screen.

Gv USB2 is amazing for retro gaming, but you should get it anyways to start up, it's not that bad on a switch, also, be sure to get a HDMI to RCA adaptor.

Here's what you'll get:

If you can afford to spend another $20, you should get an avermedia. If not, the option mentioned above by @Bernlord is more than fine.

Arizona, USA

im in a very similar situation. all runs ive done have been recorded with a webcam but im scared one of my runs will be rejected because of bad quality. so what semi good budget cap cards are there? i could probably do like 150 or so dollars.

New Jersey, USA

Avermedia and Elgato.

Also chances are your footage is fine. As long as we can see the gameplay, you're good.

Wisconsin, USA

I use Elgato. Crystal clear footage and super easy to setup. Also, if you happen to have any issues elgato customer support is A+

dont get gv-usb2 for hd games, looks awful and you will need an hdmi to composite adapter.

He just needs any Capture Card

GV-USB2 is within the budget they have and will likely last much longer in comparison to getting a used, cheap Elgato.

Besides, my computer is a 6-year-old Windows laptop.

I don't think anything much more powerful could run on it :P.

The type of capture card won't make much of a difference to your computer speed. In the end, all you're doing is adding a video capture source to OBS :) Don't let that make your decision

But in your price range the GV-USB2 is definitely the best option.

I mean, the computer does affect it. I have a much easier time running my Elgato on my current PC compared to my old, shitty laptop I used to attempt to run it on. Can easily do 720p60fps on this one where it struggled with 360p30fps on the other one-which I changed within the Elgato settings itself.

This capture card records in 1080p 30 fps , it cant be used to stream though but the quality is good. https://www.zapals.com/ezcap-280-1080p-hdmi-ypbpr-recorder-hd-tv-game-capture-recorder-video-editing-device-to-u-flash-disk-hdd.html

So if your looking to do live streams dont get it. but otherwise its great

cost 70$ Canadien and like 50$ US

Keep in mind that the capture card Crafty suggested does not last long at all, really.

I was going to stream, so thanks for the other option, but I'll still go with the GV-USB2. Also, I just want to make sure, is this the one you were talking about? https://www.amazon.com/I-connection-video-capture-GV-USB2/dp/B00428BF1Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1512438171&sr=1-1&keywords=gv-usb2
