explanation of 2 jumps in the current record by nedeahS
6 years ago

Hi all,

First off all congrats to nedeahS for his current record. Its awsome to watch.

I have some questions about 2 jumps in the speedrun:

-at 1:57 is there any extra input between throwing cappy up and the walljump? I cant seem to get that high. (greatly done)

-at 25:15 then doing the last of the triple jump from the fence I cant get close enough to the platform below. This is the first time I saw someone make that one. Where is the extra distance coming from?

Any help/explanation is very much appriciated.

Best wishes for 2018,

Willow

For the second one get p-speed into the triple jump and angle mario diagonal to where you want to go, that should get you farther. Other than that it's just skill and practice.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. What do you mean by p-speed?

United States

its when you have alot of momentum from rolling or long jumps I believe

Yea you need momentum from either the roll or a long jump, otherwise you won’t come close to making the triple jump.

Ok thanks, I thought the roll was used to get there quickly. I can't spot any increase in speed after the rolling part but will try some more. I actually tried it with rolling and it made no difference (jumping resets the momentum?)

Would be awsome if nedeahS could explain a little?

Well, shaeden doesn’t actually have an account, so he cannot explain. But i can.

You need to roll cancel to keep the momentum, otherwise you lose all your speed. You roll cancel by throwing cappy then immediately jumping, this needs to be done at an angle to keep momentum. Doing the long jump method is much easier, but slower.

For the first one, I throw Cappy at max height from the first triple jump, but I wait a bit after throwing him to do a dive. Once you reach max height after bouncing off Cappy, you can actually just do a normal throw against the wall instead of throwing him upwards. nedeahS doesn't throw him upwards before the walljump anymore either. After throwing Cappy at the wall, walljump, and once you reach max height again, you throw Cappy at the railing and then move towards the railing for a bit and then dive. I don't know if it's necessary, but I like to be spaced out from the wall a bit before i throw Cappy at the wall for the walljump. It helped me a lot seeing Vallu do this jump in his recent 1:05 at twitch.tv/videos/213493861?t=

Shaeden is the Man

Tried the metro jump with a longjump + diagonal gliding. Took 3 attempts to get it. Thank you for the tip :)

Rolling however I dont understand. How do you throw cappie, because you are using that same button to roll.

Still no luck with the first 1:57 jump but Ill keep trying :)

Use the other button to throw cappy

I can't seem to get the first one. I'm missing major height but don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Any help is welcome

Im totally missing something here. I simply don't get enough height with the wall jump. Can anyone break down the movements? Also to make the triple jump on the hat I have to slow down a little against the wall. Is this correct?

If its really THAT bad, and with the help people have already given you you haven't got it at least once, then just don't do it in runs. There are loads of people who don't do it, I would even say most don't.

I don't but I would like to know how its done (the walljump simply doesn't give enough height) so I can practise it. Thats how I learned to do the sphynx skip and now I can do it pretty consistant.
