Speedrunners, do you use a pro controller?

Do people that speedrun this use a pro controller/controller holder thing that came with the switch, or do you play with both joy cons seperated in each hand in those things with the wrist straps?

I really want to learn to speedrun this game but I cannot for the life of me play this game using the seperated joy con controllers in each hand, when I try it its seriously like I become severely mentally challenged and my skill goes from 100 to 0. But pulling off motion things with the controller holder thing that came with the switch just feels so sluggish and not fluid at all.

Is the pro controller any superior to the controller holder that im using or must I just practice endlessly to get skilled at holding a joy con in each hand? Its been nearly two hours now trying that way and I'm playing like I'm 3 years old..

United States

don't own the game personally, but from what I can tell, a lot of people prefer the Pro Controller. Whether or not it's faster or will even make you play better is really undecided

Most people, including myself play them separated. It feels surprisingly natural for this game to play it like that, plus its a lot easier to use motion controls.

I like alternate my shakes while detached, it feels like it's a little faster when rolling too like as soon as the time for the input is over it catches the other one. Moving the entire controller with both hands feels crazy unnatural to me.

i use detached joycons

Really it only matters for what you’re most comfortable with using.
