Warp Paintings and Hint Art (Possible Guide)

So I'm new to this website and noticed there don't seem to be many guidelines as to what to post and where to post them. So I thought that I'd write up this guide here and see what people think. It should go over Warp Paintings, Hint Art, Peach locations, and the Taxi sidequest and I'll include a suggested route at the end along with some footnotes. Hope this can be of use to people.

Warp Paintings: Some Kingdoms have some paintings that you can use to travel to specific worlds rather than having to use the Odyssey to pick a level. It's arguable rather or not using these are faster than using the Odyssey, however if you'd like to go to another particular kingdom and don't want to send your moons to the Odyssey yet, using paintings to get around can be useful. During the main story, you can use paintings to warp to different worlds without having to go through Cappy's hints- though this isn't much use since you have to use the odyssey to access each new kingdom. If you use them at all, you'll likely be using them during post game.

Cascade -> Bowser This painting is located behind the waterfall, and unlocks after beating the game (1)

Sand -> Metro This painting is located on a pillar in between the ruins, the poison swamp, and the inverted pyramid. It unlocks after beating the ice boss.

Lake -> Sand/Luncheon This painting is located in the pond with a Lakitu hovering over it. It's available either as soon as you enter the level or after you beat the broodal. If you go to the Lake Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Sand Kingdom.

Wooded -> Luncheon/Sand This painting is located on a roof that's accessible either from the scarecrow next to the charging station or from falling from exiting the other warp painting in this level. As of right now I haven't checked when this painting is accessible, but it appears to be available from the start. If you go to the Lake Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Luncheon Kingdom.

Metro -> Wooded/Lake This painting is located right next to the Odyssey. It's available after beating the boss of this world. If you go to the Lake Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Wooded Kingdom.

Snow -> Cascade or Lake/Wooded This painting is accessed by capturing a cloud enemy and slowly flying towards some tall wooden blocks at the other end of the map, and pushing them towards a ledge. It's accessible after collecting the triple moon of this kingdom. If you go to the Snow Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Cascade Kingdom. Otherwise, if you go to the Lake Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Lake Kingdom.

Seaside -> Wooded/Lake or Cascade This painting is accessed by defeating the boss, and then taking a geyser to where the triple moon landed and swimming to the bottom. The painting won't be accessible until after the moon is collected, unfortunately. If you go to the Snow Kingdom and Lake Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Wooded Kingdom. Otherwise, if you came here first, this painting will go to the Cascade Kingdom.

Luncheon -> Mushroom This painting is located at the top-right of the map. It's accessible as soon as you reach the painting.

Bowser -> Seaside/Snow This painting is located behind the left building in the Main Courtyard area. It's accessible either after you beat the mecha broodal or after beating the game. If you went to the Snow Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Seaside Kingdom.

Mushroom -> Snow/Seaside This painting is located right behind the odyssey. It's accessible as soon as you arrive in the Kingdom. If you went to the Snow Kingdom first, this painting will go to the Snow Kingdom.

Hint Art: Many kingdoms throughout the game have moons that give you some art that shows a location in another kingdom that requires you to ground pound some spot in order to find a moon that's applicable only to the region the art was found in. Unfortunately, in order to find these moons, you have to observe the art or the moons won't appear at their spots. I have a list here that separates out the hint art into different sets, depending on which kingdoms go in a line.

Set 1: Mushroom -> Cap Cap -> Moon Moon -> Wooded Wooded -> Sand Sand -> Bowser Bowser -> Sand

Set 2: Luncheon -> Seaside Seaside -> Metro Metro -> Lake Lake -> Cascade

Snow -> Lost

Set Dark Side: Hidden Art 1: Cascade Hidden Art 2: Metro Hidden Art 3: Mushroom Hidden Art 4: Cloud Hidden Art 5: Snow Hidden Art 6: Seaside Hidden Art 7: Lost Hidden Art 8: Luncheon Hidden Art 9: Lake Hidden Art 10: Ruined

Mushroom Kingdom's hint art is located inside the castle. Its moon location is on the first bump on Glasses Bridge, when approaching from the Odyssey.

Cap Kingdom's hint art won't be available until you visit the kingdom a second time. Its moon location is right next to the Odyssey behind the second person to the left of the line of people staring at the Earth.

Moon Kingdom's hint art won't be available until after you beat Bowser. It's located in the chapel. Its moon location is next to a scarecrow you use to fight a fire bro capless.

Wooded Kingdom's hint art is located in the starting area as soon as you enter the level, directly right after getting off the odyssey (Or bottom left of the map). Its moon suggests its next to a Koopa, but it's actually on the other side of the map from the Koopa. Just look for two bushes next to the inverted pyramid, and you should be good.

Sand Kingdom and Bowser's Kingdom hint art are both available during post game (2), with the former being located on one of the buildings of the town, facing outwards. The latter is just outside of the Main Cortyard on the other side of the big gate. The Sand Kingdom Moon is located next to the store in Bowser's Kingdom, gotten by stomping on one of the rocks to the right on the pathway. The Bowser's Kingdom Moon is located in the area where you collected the moon shards with the Moe-Eyes. The idea is to use the hill to the left and make it be shaped as a top hat.

Luncheon Kingdom's Hint Art is located on top of the crystal wall behind the switch you use to unlock a progress moon. It can be accessed from behind the store with a proper jump as well. The Hint Art won't appear until after you restore peace to the kingdom, though (3). Its moon is located in the sea just above the trench where the sphinx is located.

Seaside Kingdom's Moon is located in the Metro Kingdom, next to the "KEEP" upside down on the floor a few steps from where you enter the city. It's available right away.

Metro Kingdom's Hint Art is located on the building where you can find one of the musicians for the festival. It should be easy to find, but a little nerving to access. The moon itself is located on the third floor of the underwater dome area, to the bottom left of the water elevator.

Lake Kingdom's Hint Art is located on the stairs that appear after beating the broodal. Its moon is located right next to the Odyssey in the Cascade Kingdom.

Snow Kingdom's Hint Art shows up in the village, with its moon being in between two wigglers near the moon shard area. It'll be on one of the tree legs, but do make sure not to ground pound into the poison!

The final locations are as follows: Cascade: On one of the bumps in the area where you fought Madam Broode. Metro: Look for an H symbol near New Donk Hall Mushroom: In the Gardens, on one the gaps in the edges. Cloud: Top left spot. Snow: Above an arch in the bottom floor of the village. Seaside: Located near the elevated pond next to the goombas. It's in between two pillars Lost: Starting area, where the shadow matches the art. Luncheon: In the plaza, between the pot and Talkatoo Lake: To the right of the broken pillar of the bottom floor of the underwater dome area. Ruined: In the ground near the Odyssey

Peach Locations: One thing to note about Princess Peach is that she appears in every kingdom. She won't appear until you've brought peace in the Kingdom, spoke to Toad, and there may be cases where you'll need to unlock the moon rock as well (4). Peach won't appear in the Moon Kingdom until you have encountered her in all other kingdoms first.

Some locations: Sand: On top of Inverted Pyramid Lake: Where you fought the broodal Wooded: The highest location, where you find Glideon Metro: On top of a building. You can see her from the New Donk Hall checkpoint if you're having trouble spotting her. Seaside: Where the Triple Moon spawned after beating the boss. Luncheon: In the plaza, next to the pot. Bowser: Next to the store. Moon: Under the bell on top of the chapel.

Taxi order: Sand -> Metro -> Cascade -> Luncheon -> Moon -> Mushroom -> Sand In order for the Taxi to appear in each kingdom, the kingdom must be completed.

With that information dump dealt with, now I'll share my personal route with dealing with Full Missions. Hopefully it'll be of use to people.

Main: Cap Kingdom (Any) Cascade Kingdom Sand Kingdom - Beat Ice Boss, talk to Taxi dude, buy Cowboy outfit (6) Lake Kingdom (6) (Any) - View hint art Wooded Kingdom (5)(6) (Any) - View hint art Lost Kingdom Metro Kingdom - View hint art, do festival, talk to Taxi dude Seaside Kingdom (7) - Beat Boss, talk to Taxi dude in Cascade (7) Snow Kingdom (7) - Collect triple moon, because why not Luncheon Kingdom - Beat the bird, go to the plaza to talk to Taxi dude (7) and view hint art. Bowser's Kingdom Moon Kingdom - Do Moon Skip to achieve checkpoint, but go into the cave anyway. (8) Mushroom Kingdom - Go into the Castle and achieve the Title and ceiling moons. View hint art and be wary of moon count. The next location is Dark Side, and you should have the ideal number of moons soon. If not, collect some moons here. If you're off by under 30 moons, go to the Cap Kingdom instead. Dark Side Completion Cap Kingdom Completion Moon visit 2 (5)(7)(9) - Buy Astronaut Outfit, talk to Taxi dude, and view hidden art. Sand Kingdom visit - View hidden art (2)(7)(9) Luncheon Kingdom Completion Mushroom Kingdom - Talk to Taxi dude. Boss rush / completion optional Seaside Kingdom Completion (7) Cascade Kingdom Completion (7) Bowser's Kingdom Completion (2) Snow Kingdom Completion (7) Lake Kingdom Completion (6) Sand Kingdom Completion (2)(7) Metro Kingdom Completion Wooded Kingdom Completion (5)(6) Lost/Clouded/Ruined Kingdom Completion Moon Kingdom Completion (9) Darker Side Mushroom Kingdom Completion Moon - End

(1)- I recall going to the cascade kingdom after making it to the moon, but I could be wrong here.

(2)- As you may have noticed, the hint art for Bowser's Kingdom and the Sand Kingdom make it slightly difficult to do either kingdom in one sitting without having to rely on the other for a moon, especially with both kingdoms not showing their art until post game. Though, I don't actually know if the art in the Sand Kingdom is earlier- but it's definitely not there before arriving to Bowser's Kingdom, and by that point you'll be wanting to go to the Moon to finish the game. The best thing I can suggest here is to visit the Sand kingdom some time either directly before or directly after Dark Side. Though to be fair, the Bowser's Kingdom moon for the Sand Kingdom is right next to a checkpoint, so it wouldn't hurt to complete Bowser's Kingdom, then go to the Sand Kingdom, then go back to Bowser's Kingdom for a quick Moon.

(3)- It's possible that the hint art appears after obtaining the triple moon, but due to the routing of the bird boss, it'd be inconvenient to go there at that time- especially since the Plaza checkpoint is gone at this stage.

(4)- I recall needing to open the moon rock to find Peach in the Cap Kingdom, but I could be wrong. Either way, I'd recommend leaving Peach for final visits in the kingdom anyway, so it hopefully wouldn't hurt to hit the moon rocks first.

(5)- So one thing you might notice from my routing is that I don't have the Wooded Kingdom as completed in comparison to the other kingdoms. This is because it actually doesn't matter when in the run you bring peace to it. I have it set for post game because my aim here is to obtain as many moons as possible in one sitting. Another interesting thing to note here is that if you use the painting routing I have here, you would fall near the 8th clearing checkpoint. I can't promise this is faster than getting there from the Odyssey, but it at the very least -looks- like it's faster, so it might be worth saving for end game. I also have it set after the Moon Kingdom due to the hint art.

(6)- It doesn't matter much if you choose Lake or Wooded first. Though if you choose Wooded, Lake's completion would be placed after the Sand Kingdom, meaning you wouldn't have to worry about obtaining 45 purple triangles for the Cowboy outfit until you're completing the Sand Kingdom.

(7)- A lot of this route is based on the Taxi Sidequest. You may notice that I specifically placed Seaside before the Snow kingdom. This is because I plan to make use of the painting to warp to the Cascade Kingdom. What is unfortunate about this though is that after beating the boss of Seaside, while it's easier to get to the painting than it is in the Snow Kingdom, It's super difficult to tell if it's faster than using the Odyssey. The deciding factor here would be if you could go into the painting before collecting the boss's triple moon- or at least stand in place after collecting it. However, it warps you back to the Odyssey, meaning that you would have to take an extra trip back to the painting, which would take time. Because of this, using the painting to warp to the Cascade Kingdom to talk to the Taxi driver might not actually be faster than using the Odyssey to just fly to Cascade, and then fly again directly to the Snow/Luncheon Kingdom. One thing to note here though, is that there is extra time taken submitting the taxi moon to the Odyssey and the extra tips Cappy gives you when travelling between Cascade and Snow/Luncheon. You wouldn't have to submit the taxi moon or the painting moon to the Odyssey until post game if you used the painting to get there, and the taxi would still appear in Luncheon as all you have to do is speak to the Taxi dude in order to activate that. The timing for this is likely close, so it may just come down to preference. ... though the above is pointless if the Taxi appears in all of those kingdoms after completing objectives, rather than just after interacting with them in particular kingdoms. I'm led to believe otherwise, but feel free to correct me here. You can decide to skip going to Cascade here and doing so after beating Bowser, as long as you go to Cascade before completing the Luncheon Kingdom. It's worth noting that there are random visits to the Moon and Mushroom Kingdom specifically for the Taxi quest. Technically these would be inconvenient, but the Moon already has issues (9), and you travel to the Mushroom Kingdom when using the painting from Luncheon to access Snow/Seaside, so it made sense to have a taxi meet there. Also, the aim of this section is to not use the Odyssey at all after stepping into the Sand Kingdom, and leaving the Wooded/Lake Kingdom.

8- It may not save much time, but you can get the checkpoint above the cave and warp to it after obtaining the last three purple coins in the cave. This skips the Madam Broodal fight, as well as the last Charging Chuck section. You can also skip doing the cave entirely and go explore it during the second or third visits to the Moon.

9- The Moon. It has a couple of... quirks. Specifically in relation to Princess Peach, the Astronaut Outfit, and the hint art. You can't complete the Moon until you've found Peach in all of the other regions, but you can't complete the Moon last because you need the Astronaut Outfit for the Lake Kingdom, and the hint art for the Wooded Kingdom. This makes it difficult to complete the Moon Kingdom in one sitting. The easy solution around this is just to go the route and skip the moons for Lake/Wooded Kingdoms and go back to them after completing the moon. Another thing to do is complete the Moon early on and completely skip the Peach encounter for last, meaning a trip to the Moon just to locate Peach. There's also the Taxi, which you need to encounter here before the Mushroom Kingdom and the Sand Kingdom. The best thing I can think of is splitting the Moon into three separate visits- the first for beating Bowser, the second for Taxi/Hidden art, and the third for completion.

But anyway, that's just my take on it all. As a side note, I'm currently working on a route for Full Missions. This route probably won't be efficient, as I only plan on working on it once. But once I'm finished with it and do a run, I might share it here. Considering someone's hit Full Missions in 13 hours already, while I'm here with this 20 hours, I've got quite a bit of work to do.

Question regarding the paintings and where they warp you. You list Mushroom Kingdom as warping to snow or seaside. Yet none of the other paintings listed warp to these 2 places. So if my mushroom kingdom warps me to snow, what painting would warp me to seaside, or vice versa?

Hope that makes sense.

Never mind figured it out, there is a painting in bowsers keep that also leads to snow/seaside that you forgot to list
