Snow Kingdom Painting Skip (2P only)

TL;DR I found a way to skip to the secret ledge in shiveria using 2P, a Ty Foo, and a stem. Check out my tweet (link below) to see it in action.

So, I found a way to skip to the snow kingdom secret ledge. Unfortunately, I could only do it in 2 player mode. Now, I got very very close to making the ledge from a triple jump on the odyssey, but I'm pretty sure, at this point, it's impossible. I then started messing around with the Ty-Foo, I found out that it could climb the ledge up to the odyssey because the floor was sloped. Unfortunately that didn't permanently raise it's height as it quickly fell back down after I left the ledge. I tried getting it to go up the walls of the area, but I'm pretty sure they were all too steep, I did see a little bit of height change, but nothing substantial. If you're a maniac, you could try every part of the wall to see if the Ty-Foo could climb it, but I'm not a maniac (pending). But then I noticed the stem that you can use to get into the clouds, and I noticed it was lower than the Ty-Foo's base height, knowing that the Ty-Foo's height CAN change, I decided to see if the stem could push up the Ty-Foo when it grows. Sure enough, it could. Again though, the Ty-Foo's height falls back very quickly to it's original position, especially after such a drastic change. Since the stem is far away from any of the walls, I couldn't use it in any significant way (that I could think of).

So then I thought of messing around in 2P mode. While doing some weird stuff with the Ty-Foo, I discovered that if Cappy gets sent out with the Ty-Foo at a different elevation, then have the Ty-Foo go back to it's standard height, Cappy still stays at that previous height. When I tried doing it with Mario, Cappy snaps to the elevation he's at. It was never instantaneous, so I don't know what triggers Cappy's height change, maybe whenever Mario lands? Point is, I figured I could use the stem to force the Ty-Foo high enough, send out Cappy at the right height, and then move both of them over towards the secret area. If Cappy is at the right height, he could then trigger the checkpoint flag (or at least close enough to shake to it), then you could warp yourself up. And that's exactly what I did below.

Now, since I was super close in single player to reaching the area, you could probably use 2 P mode to reach the flag while Mario is in the air and not have to go through this weird Ty-Foo stuff. However, I'm not 2 people, and so that solution probably would require too much movement between 2 controllers at one time that I didn't want to spend time figuring out, although it is probably doable with 2 people. If it isn't (which I don't know because I didn't try), then you still have my solution. I still don't know how applicable this is to any of the speedrun categories, and I don't know if it could theoretically get you into a painting early, but I think 2 interesting things are still learned from my endeavors. Firstly, you can use the giant stem to make the flurry go higher in the snow kingdom for who knows what reason. Secondly, in 2P mode, Cappy's elevation doesn't track Mario's after being sent out until you touch the ground again (or if you are in a captured enemy, but that doesn't make as much sense to me), which could be exploited in other areas with other flying enemies. If not ultimately useful, this was still a very entertaining and satisfying process personally.
