Can we get a route guide so runners can learn the routing for the any% category

Germany

So before someone lays a smackdown on you, i try to explain why this is a bold and uninformed request, in a non condescending manner.

The game is literally 4 days old. Not many runners have 100% completed the game and not many runners have done runs at all. This matters because doing these 2 things tells us a lot about what a route could possibly look like. Right now there are hundreds of possible route ideas that may or may not be optimal (chances are they are not). Figuring that out takes planning and trial and error runs that at best can be compared with other routes, in other words it takes a long time (and more importantly it also changes over time).

What you can do right now is look at all the little strategies that people have found and try a little for yourself to figure out what works well. You have the unique opportunity to contribute to a route that has yet to be established.

^this and: look, sm64 came out 1996 and still gets improved...give us 5 to 7 years for a "nearly consistent/perfect" route and ask for a guide again...by now, i can just repeat voltrey: maybe YOU are the one finding the best/optimal route FOR NOW and can share it with us?

speedruns arent "intended" by the programmers, so the strategy-guides coming out in books etc dont help us in speedrunning...there is no "true" right path to go...even the TASes of games arent infallible...the community just has to test and experiment around, what COULD BE (not "is") the "best" way to do stuff quickly...so, just go ahead, go outta there, and try to the max my boy! get that routes/strats/techniques and practise your own skills to beat the game as fast as possible and maybe get the "best" current runner (holding world recorld) from time to time! :)

Currently working on rerouting everything, so far halfway done, just look at my threads for the routes their much faster than WR.

But i am just asking for a current route now so new runners can learn what to do in each kingdom. Right now we are just looking at whoever has the WR and get the route based off that. If a new route gets discovered than post that online. personally for me i don't want to be watching WR runners to find out how to do specific movement in each area and what moons to collect

Most of the current WR routes are my routes so id recommend my route videos, but not everything has been optimized in term of late game routing. just go off current WR i guess, the games been out for only 4 days there won't be a guide out for some time.

i dont wanna instruct ya, but isnt it fun to u to just play a NEW (fucking mario ¤-¤) game by yourself randomly 100% to just see whats possible and much more important: to see whats the game even about? storyline etc..?

just do your own routes until you notice you get stuck (e.g. any% 3h time), and THEN care about the current professionals..! :)

You don't want to watch WR runs to study moon location and movement? That's what everyone else has to do lol. You can't possibly think asking for the fruit of everyone else's labor is a good idea. If you're serious about running this game (or any game, for that matter) you'll do your research.

The reason having a route list is nice is so you can look at it while you're running so you don't have to hold all the information in your head. That's why.

yeah, but then (especially at the beginning of a game (see its not even a week out)) do it on your own, until its played to death as sm64 by cheese and co. now after 20 years...

just watched the current top run, and noticed something that made me wonder: do the artwork hint moons only show up after viewing the art? i think some of them might be faster (in particular it was watching vallu run past the "keep" hint that made me wonder why it wasnt grabbed in metro kingdom)

Yes: For the artwork moons, the painting has to be opened and viewed before they can be found in game :)

Watch other runs and take notes! I mean you wouldn't even be asking in the first place if you weren't at least watching some parts of the scene anyway right? XD
