Level Categories for Switch

Since Super Mario 3D All-Stars doesn’t have level category extension, would it be possible to do it here? cause i feel like the that game the moderators aren’t really listening to the community and i’m hoping to finally submit some runs even it’s just levels

There is a reason. 3D All-Stars has a large advantage from Text, Loads, and the Pointer. It wouldn't make sense for them to be allowed. Nothing is stopping you from doing them, but you can't submit them.

what we mean is have different leaderboards for 3das like sunshine has

How about asking the 3D All Stars guys to add il's? They are 2 separate games on SRC so it makes no sense asking here

United Kingdom

From what i understand people have been asking the all stars community to add ils for a while, but the mods have been saying that ils already exist here so they dont need to set them up too.

Also they (fairly) say that if people started doing il runs it would be a lot of extra moderating for them - 3d all stars only has 4 mods overall compared to the 8 here just for this game.

then add more mods im sure there is more than enough people that would like to be mods for that game

I think what it is really is that the mods from this game and 3das are both saying "its not our job to set up an IL leaderboard and then moderate it, go and ask the mods from the other game to do it".

(No offence mods, i know the last thing you all want is a new IL run coming in for you to moderate every 5 seconds)

Sunshine mods were nice and smsce leaderboards have a 3das one too

@ely_sr has already been talked to in the Discord, but I figured I'd clarify it for those who are not there.

The problem is that there just isn't a demand for ILs. No one is particularly interested in running ILs at all, much less for SM3DAS.

I would highly recommend creating a Google Doc leaderboard for ILs. That way it'll be proof to the moderators that there is demand enough to create ILs for the game.

(this was talked before the convo in discord) The only problem I have with making a Google doc is that it's not very organized and a src page will help a lot

United Kingdom

Yeah, i don't think it would be a long term solution - starsmiley is just trying to see if there are people in the community who want ILs enough to put the effort into making a leaderboard, and then also if there are other people who would submit runs.

Basically if a leaderboard is made and used that shows the mods that it is worth setting up one (so they will make one and transfer those runs over), and if nobody can be bothered to make a leaderboard then we can stop complaining about not having one :)

Also if barely anyone does IL runs like the mods are expecting the google doc wont be messy, just empty.

This isn't a he said-she said situation. ILs likely won't be allowed for switch. You can make a spreadsheet for IL times if you want. We would be going through all of this effort, yet most of the people that ask for it don't even do runs.

Yeah thats fair. I think an IL leaderboard would be good for people like me who want to speedrun the game but dont have time to do full runs, but equally i get that nobody wants to set up and manage 242 extra leaderboards!

Its more than 242. -Star ILs -Dome RTA -Galaxy RTA all for each character.

United Kingdom

Eh fair, probs around 300-350 by the time youve counted all those.

But equally you could have different pages of a spreadsheet for each of those to make it a bit neater.

(I would make the spreadsheet but im assuming you'd probably prefer someone who is experienced in running the game to moderate it, rather than me whos never yet submitted a galaxy run)

Yep 288 IL categories (because most galaxies have only one star, so galaxy RTA is redundant)
